This is something I haven't seen pop up on CAA in awhile, so it's time to bring it back around!

Ask me some questions. They can be anything, personal, difficult, or whatever, so make it fun and challenging!

How'd you come up with the username Cognitive Gear.

Cognitive: of or pertaining to the mental processes of perception, memory, judgment, and reasoning, as contrasted with emotional and volitional processes.

Gear: a mechanism or group of parts performing one function or serving one purpose in a complex machine.

Back when I came up with this username, I was very much the type of person who valued reasoning over emotion. In addition, it was the year in which I was pretty involved in a subculture known as "Steampunk", which was in it's infancy in 2007. Combining the two things lead to the current username.

Incidentally, time has changed me, and the username isn't really fitting anymore. I realized that subcultures aren't really for me, and I now generally balance reason and emotion as two equally important factors in the human experience.

My dream job would be to write, produce, and direct independent movies. Right now I have that planned as retirement, though.
One of these.

Using most unfriendly words that the village children had not yet heard, I would shout threats by canzonette to curse the crafty bird. "You rotten wooden mixing spoon! Why you midnight winged raccoon! You better bring those pastries back, you no-good burned-black macaroon!"

I would also have various symbols flying out of my mouth, all connected by clothesline.

This is the most proper and correct of all answers.

Given the significance of the three items together in Japanese folklore, I'm going to venture a guess that none of them fall.

Although, if any of them were to fall, Mt. Fuji would certainly be the first.

I'm quite partial to Neil Gaiman, Alan Moore, and Dan Simmons.
Assuming that my morals aligned with those os Starfleet, I'd have to go with Operation's Manager.

1. Given the medical applications of boiling water, I'd say that it already has.
2. It is looking out into this blue cosmos!
3. I'd call that it's second trimester. From what I have read, the groundwork for the subculture was laid in the late eighties, but it didn't truly arise as it's own subculture of people until the mid 2000's. I'd be interested in hearing what went on in the late 80's, as this is the first I've heard of it's existence during that time period. (As a subculture rather than a genre of fiction) Right now, I'd say that it is in it's terrible two's, or maybe teens. It's purposefully drawing attention to itself now.

5.) This is very, very tough. Most likely I'd have to go with the British Isles, though. It's in my blood!

1. White! This is because in Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, the white ranger had the coolest zord. Also, he got the girl. Those are some pretty nice perks.
2. I would kill no one. Murder isn't something I'd like to be guilty of.
3. Aaron Weiss, David Bowie, and Paul McCartney

5.) Dr. Pepper. (Although Mr. Pibb is superior to both.)

So, cogni, how hard are you into the Steam Punk thang? I seem to recall you doing it pretty regularly back in the day and I totally wanted to talk to you about it, but I never got the chance. I luffs steampunk, but never felt comfortable wearing the stuff IRL.

Indiana Jones

So, cogni, how hard are you into the Steam Punk thang? I seem to recall you doing it pretty regularly back in the day and I totally wanted to talk to you about it, but I never got the chance. I luffs steampunk, but never felt comfortable wearing the stuff IRL.

I was very, very into it years ago. So much so that my picture might still be up on the Abney Park website. A lot of my weekends were spent on modifying various steampunk themed clothing and furnishings. I wasn't wearing Steampunk attire everyday, but I'd wear it to every con or concert I went to.

These days, though, I've found that the direction the subculture took was not to my liking. It has suffered the same fate that most subcultures do, which is to become a place for elitists to look down on the "posers" and "norms". It also became the new hotspot for cosplayer's LARP/fanfiction, which is not something I'd like to be involved in.

3. Which Harrison Ford role kicks the most butt? Your choices are:
Han Solo
Indiana Jones
Jack Ryan

1. I've read and watched a lot of Gaiman's work. It seems like the man has his hand in anything that requires writing, be it novels, comics, movies or television shows.

2. I've actually never heard of him.
3. Of these choices, only one has fought Nazis. The answer should be clear.

2: Erhm.... Chi? >_>
3: At work.
4: In a manner most Legen.... wait for it.... dary!
5: Green!
6: Right now. Or maybe in a a few days.

So if you had to choose between going to Japan for 2 weeks or going on cruise through the Bahmas for 2 weeks which would you choose? (ignoring price differences)

1. Probably Philosophy.
2. Say, "I know."
3. They make pretty good muffins.
4. No, I have not. However, I hear that the people are nice, and they speak French too! (If you don't like it, man, you sniff glue!)
5. They say "eh" instead of "what" or "duh".
6. God.

Hmmmm....

I would be me, but two dimensional! XD

Ok, so I would be the some combination of Big Brother Mentor, Great Detective, and Short Guy With Glasses. (As described on TV Tropes. Also I am tall.)

Uhm, that would depend on who is coming with me. Company would determine which one of those experiences would be more rewarding.
