Q's wacky poetry

Postby QtheQreater » Sun Sep 03, 2006 1:20 pm

Unlike my depressing stuff, I write my weird poetry fairly often. So I shall post said poems here, when they come to mind.

First off:

Umbrella

I once knew a fella
That had an umbrella
He kept by his side everyday
Until one fateful night
He forgot, and in spite
The rain did wash off his toupee

Now this wasn't good
For the man, as he stood
In the middle of town in the rain
He chased that toupee
But it got washed away
And the embarrasement caused him much pain

Now this is the lesson
I won't keep you guessin
With this small bit of info, release
Your old stupid misconception
That an umbrella's rain interception
Won't help you when you wear a piece

It feels like a limmerick, but with a bit of a different structure, which gives it a bit more intrigue, as well as a less sing-songey feel.

I can really relate to this one.
This is very creative, original. Great job!

You lost your toupee in a rainstorm too?

I wasn't being sarcastic at all. Truly. I really enjoyed reading it.

Thanks! Hehe...it was such a dry "funny", was all...if you can write a single word dryly, that is...

Didn't mean you Kokhiri, I knew you liked it. Thanks!

And another!

Dedicated to my coffee mug...

Caffeine! Caffeine! You know what I mean
That wonderful stuff that you surely have seen
Inside many sodas and in coffee, too
The stuff that aids homework for me and for you

Many a late night you surely have spent
Under the influence of this heaven sent
Most wonderful substance that keeps one awake
and if one has enough one might jump in a lake

It works on ones system so quick and so well
And is the best stimuli, far as I can tell
For waking one up, and keeping them there
And keeps one from giving a tired vacant stare

My teachers would all be appalled if they knew
That the only way I stay awake is that brew
That I would be asleep if I hadn't had my fix
No matter how good the lecture, or their verbal tricks

I found this one from awhile back in the bump thread...fixed a coupla words in it...

A BUMPER'S STORY

Oh I was bumpin' just the other day
And my mom walked in and she did say
"Why are you wasting your time on there?"
And she did scowl and she did stare

I answered in my sweetest voice
"Mom, I really have no choice,
I'm bored, I gotta bump again,
The bump threads got me hooked." And then...

She took my compy, threw it off the roof,
laughed and said, "Now there's the proof,
You're bumping days are over kid."
And I cried and ran and hid.

A few days later the computer was,
Re-assembled, and I bumped because,
The bump thread is the place to be,
But now I'm a closet bumper, you see.

Psh. You can tell I'm a college student. I just wrote this, and it's about 1am. I am getting to bed early for a change! *posts the poem and goes to bed*

Sleep

Sleep, that blessed state
Of unconciousness, I sleep to sate
My need for slumber, every day
But my neck hurts cause I sleep this way...

You see, I have a pillow, too
But I don't use it just like you
I put it atop my head at night
Where you put yours underneath, that's right

Some think I'm weird but I must say
I tend to sleep much better that way
Even if I wake with ailing neck
It lets me rest, so what the heck?

And another!

Ode to the things in my A/C

There are many different myths and tales
From cultures far and wide
But most have not
A lick or spot
Of truth on their inside

But one I know tis true and this
Is about the little creatures
That we do call
The gremlins; all
with nasty smirking features

I knew that they existed
when I was a real small kid
I've said they do
Some things that you
Would scoff at; but they did

For once when I was trying
to put books back on the shelf
They came and shoved the bookshelf down
And I was blamed for it myself

And then there was this time when they
Found our new technology
That's right, the twits made compy crash
And blame still went to me

But this time I can prove they live
Inside my A/C unit
Their screamo band
Is heavy metal and
The maintenance man can't tune it

So the A/C screams out all day long
But at night it's even worse
I haven't slept
Because they've kept
Me up; I swear I'm cursed

I guess some think I must have done
Something to the A/C machine
But I did not!
The gremlins thought
They'd do it to be mean

So the band is playing even now
SCREECH SCREECH is the sound
If only they
had bass today
They'd be the noisiest band around!

So if you wonder whether or not
The gremlin tale is true
Come on by
And listen to my
A/C...you can HAVE it, too!

I had a poetic moment while eating a burrito...

And if people didn't think I was strange before...here's proof...

Burrito!

And there it is
My little burrito
I look at it longingly,
say "Isn't it neat-o?"

Happily I consume my bean and beef snack
Little did I know that this one would bite back
Yessir, it did and I'm feeling quite queasy
Oh why does my stomach get upset so easy?

So I must avoid the burrito for now
But I shall be back to eat it someday
Of course, if I leave it there I wonder how
It'll taste with the mold in the way
