Dragon Knights!

Has anyone else read Ohkami Mineko's "Dragon Knights"? ^^; I'm a rather big fan of it...and more specifically of GARFAKCY!

I did a thread for this before but nobody respond. I'm such a big fan of Mineko Ohkami's art and I love Dragon Knights, but I'm rater impress that you like it. I thought I was the only Dragon Knight fan around here. But I'm so glad you are a fan too!! I'll post some pics I have alot of them, but I haven't update the thread that I had here for it, but I will and I have alot of pics but I'm sorry for not having much for Gar-chan. I find him very funny the way he is a cleaning freak but I prefer other characters from the manga. Don't you think that Mineko Ohkami makes such nice Bishoune and you can't deside in which one to chose and have to select more than just one? Well I'll try to update the thread today so you can find it around here somewhere and be able to post and I'll keep posting to. ^-^ You and I like the same type pf Bishoune. ^^ You like Goku too from Saiyuki. Have you seen Full Metal Panic? if you have who is your favorite Bishounen mine would have to be Sosuke.

I LOVE Dragon Knights! It is such a wonderful series, and I love the dragons (especially when they are speaking with their signs). It's so cute! *runs off and hugs her manga*

I don't know who I'd consider to be my favorite... I love them all! If we ignore bishounen for a second, I think that Cestia is an awesome character. I've always been fond of using wind as a weapon. Fire too. *Falls back into bishie mode* Rath...

Garfakcy rocks too. ^^


Oh, and DK_Sol? Sosuke IS incredibly hot. I saw the first episode of FMP a couple days ago. I don't think he could beat Sanzo though... *glomps Sanzo*

Just a question to get a bit of discussion going...I've read/struggled through most of the Dragon Knights series, and I never really took to Rath the way I did to most of the other characters. So what is Rath's appeal to fans, anyways?

I don't really know (in all the mangas I've read, I'm usually attracted to the pyro/psycho characters) but to me, Rath just seems so hugly and cuddly and he's always so sad it makes me want to hug him! plus I just think he's cool (if it makes you feel better, Thatz is my second fav^.~)

There's a small bit of swearing (words that begin with 'd' 'h' and 'b') and a good deal of violence (a head gets lopped off in the 2nd and 12th manga, but it's not unecessary) and blood. Nothing objectionable religion wise, though. There are 'demons' but more in the sense that they're a race of people like humans or elves, and not in the sense of anything supernatural. (though I think one character does get posessed) ^^ It's a good series, but watch out for anything else by Mineko Ohkami, because she is a shounen-ai mangaka.

And a bit of advice. DON'T SKIP ANY VOLUMES. It'll leave you REALLY CONFUSED.

Thanks Kokoro! Just to be on the safe side, is there any shounen-ai content in this particular manga? I don't wanna really start enjoying a series and then get the shock of my life.(that might be a bit of an exageration. lol)

The only possible (and it's only very weakly implied, if implied at all) shounen-ai content is the relationship between a human/demon named Gil and a demon named Raamganas (or Larmgarnas, as the translated his named in the Tokyo Pop manga). There is one scene that sticks out in my head where Raam finds Gil, nurses him back to health, and is seen feeding him like a bird would feed her chicks (mouth to mouth. ^^; ), and Gil has a few moments where he imagines Raam giving him a hug. Of course as with a lot of "shounen-ai" couples in non shounen-ai manga, this could be interpreted a few different ways, and Raam's interesting way of feeding Gil could be due to the fact that he spends most of his time around animals.

It's sort of like Gensomaden Saiyuki in the way that the author usually does shounen-ai, but didn't specifically put any in this series; that means there's a lot that the yaoi fangirls see as connotations, but there's nothing canon.

And, yeah, don't skip anything. Even if you don't, it's not unusual to feel pretty lost sometimes (all those weird names... @_@ Who names their kid Lykouleon anyway?) I haven't been keeping up with it much, though, especially after Ohkami killed a few of my select favorite characters. >_<

oh does it ever! I went to fanfiction.net to try and find some humor fics for DK one time and there was soooo many shonen ai fanfics (I was disgusted and I'm refraining from going to that site again even tho the Kingdom Hearts humor fanfics are soooo funny!) *sigh* so, yeah...

That happens when you have a ton of hot guys in a single series. It is also completely understandable that you don't want to try to wade through the junk. I haven't read any DK fanfiction yet, but I am VERY familiar to having a favorite series become overrun with shounen ai. My favorite anime and manga series (Sorcerer Hunters, Saiyuki, Getbackers, Fruits Basket) ALL have HUGE yaoi fanbases.

Most anime (at least, the ones with two or more male characters who may not have even ever met) have major yaoi fanbases; the general otaku world is pretty messed up. So much so, in fact, that I've seen the word "fangirl" used interchangeably with "yaoi enthusiast" a number of times, which is unfortunate. Shonen-ai is so pointless -- I don't see what's so great about it.

Eh...shounen-ai is a take it or leave it thing if you will. I won't go out of my way to find it, but I'm not going to go out of my way to avoid it either. If it's there, it's there, and I'm not going to just drop a series because of it. Yaoi, on the other hand, is a different story.

But let's stay on topic and not let this become another debate.

I don't wanna debate either. Yaoi and shounen-ai aren't my thing *shudders*, but I do like the bishounen. lol I agree, sometimes wading through the categories in fanfiction.net can be a chore.(The Fruits Basket section isn't as bad as some others. I like the Kenshin section because you can pic certain characters and it'll just list stories with those characters in them. I don't understand why they don't do that with the other anime sections. Too much work maybe....)

Now back on topic-I really love the art from the Dragon Knights manga! Sooo.... pretty.*starry eyes* Don't really know that much about the characters so I can't really say anything else. lol

oooh yes! the art is very pretty! blade (key_blade) can draw like that (when I badger for hours on end saying, "pleeeeeeeeeeeeease draw me something DK style!" and then she finally gives in)

Gomen nasai; I was sort of overboard.

It is a lovely style; I really like her use of screentone (especially the really random ones in the backgrounds at times) and the little dragons are sooooo cute, especially when they talk via notecards.

Yeah, I'm not big on overly-done pointed ears (it's used so often...), but the way Ohkami-sensei draws them, there's a certain faerie delicacy that I really do like. Her use of thin, precise lines lends itself wonderfully to that.

I also need to say that I would love to try Rath's cooking just for the sake of being able to say I did (provided I survive the experience.) He comes up with the most creative combinations. ^_^
