Old Friends

Postby Kokhiri Sojourn » Thu Jan 22, 2004 8:31 pm

I randomly decided to put some old stuff on here just for fun. I wrote these three several years ago (they have no connection) ... man it seems like forever. Some I like, others not so much, but anyway, hope you enjoy. :)

Estrellita

I'm reaching out to you tonight,
constantly longing for your presence.
It's like tenaciously searching, screaming to reach
a star at night,
when there aren't any stars out.
You know they're there, but they continually
escape your grasp.
Only blackness.
But ther are there. Somewhere.
Amidst the scorn of darkness,
the hatred of evil,
the chill of silence,
a beacon will appear.
And you'll be there
Emerging from the night.
I'll find you know where I was all along,
I just couldn't see the star.

Restoration

Why did you ever fall for him?
Was his front so incredible you didn't realize?
I treid to warn you numerous time,
but you never paid attention to my concerns.
His ambience infected your inmost being,
he painted a new color on your soul,
one tangled tapestry of emotions warped your mind,
once and forever the introvert,
robbed of all hope, stripped of peace.
Down and distraught, you now plead for just a
fraction of assurance, a flicker of light.
I reached down to you in your misery,
I carried your scraped and withered body,
and I healed your stained soul.
I made you beautiful again.

Personal Lament

Crossing over a field, I arrive at a place -
A barren stip of land whose womb lacked conception.
Despair and sorrow loom over this place,
contradicting the deception of life in the flowers on this field.
And as I stand at a headstone all too familiar,
I am shredded morbidly inside.
I long to kiss this overbearing weight goodby,
but haven't the strength to let go.
And as I smoke this cigarette to its butt,
I feel the effects flowing, seeping through my veins,
With no avenue for emission,
Trapped, encased into my soul.
Frozen by my personal lament, I have
no tears left to shed anymore.
Only a beating heart longing for release.

Foresight and Hindsight

Showed me two different streets.

The first showed me fame and fortune,

The second wishes to change my defeats.

Great poems, I especially liked the first one. ^^
Keep writing.
"Consider the lilies of the field. They neither sew nor spin, yet I tell you, even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed as one of these. If God so clothes the grass, which is in the field one day and cast into the oven the next, how much more will he clothe you, o ye of little faith?

"Mostly I write action/adventure, and while I dislike romance, I seem to end up doing it and I've been told I do so well. To that I give a cliche "Feh.""
