Writing help!!

Postby ChristianKitsune » Mon Jan 02, 2006 2:43 pm

Ok, so I am writing this story and I JUST started it... I got the prologue done...but I want to start on the next chapter...I would ask my English teach this question..but I don't have school till thursday..XX So... here is my question..

Can I write the Prologue in First person and then switch to third person during the story? Or should I keep the story all in First person?????

Edit: Oh yeah! I forgot! The Prologue is an introduction to a series of Mission Data Logs... The data logs are the Chapters... ^^ I hope that clears up any confusion.

Thanks for answering! ^-^

I think it should be ok to do so. Especially if you indicate that it is someone talking about the events of the main story. It has been done in many books.

Well, I would ask:

1) The story is in the form of these mission data logs?

2) Is the prologue writer a character in the story?

3) Are the data logs supposed to be in the way of a journal?

1) Kind of...The data logs are told through 3rd person

2) Yes the prologue served as an introduction and a summary of the main character's past.

3) Sort of..

I will be converting this story to Comic form when I am done with the first part of it.. which should be tonight.. I will post it in the writing forum and then maybe I can answer your questions better, and in turn you can answer mine better? ^^;

Thanks guys!

That sounds neat ^__^ Honestly, I think you're fine doing it however you want. Even if your teacher said otherwise. It's your story, and if you think that switching tenses would make your story better, then just go for it. There have been a LOT of stories that do that all over the place... and lots of times it hardly makes sense. But it does serve a purpose. As long as it's a character in your story that's doing the first person part of it you're just fine ^^ What I love abour writing is that there's so much freedom in it. You can do things that are totally crazy just because you want to, and break all the rules if you feel like it. Ha ha.

I look forward to reading what you create ^^ I love stories. And comics, too.
