[Linksquest]

A guy in my school comitted suicide last night (my birthday --___--) This is what i wrote in response. I really didnt know him, but the whole atmosphere at school today was morbid



GONE by Linksquest

You are gone now
the trees and birds---
the ones you loved---
have silenced in your memory.

You must be smiling at us,
the mourners,
telling us:
"It's ok. I'm alright."

But I can't think of that now.
You are gone.
You left us.
How could you leave us?

You could have been so many things.
You could always do
anything you set your mind to.

Why didn't you set it to living---
to breathing---
to crying---
then drying your tears?

But you let it well up
and pressure you
take hold of you
drowning your heart and soul
with internal weeping.

When you took your life
you took a part of me.
You can't fire a gun
and hope its echo will die too---

Black and White by LINKSQUEST

Black and White
Two opposite Colors―

Two Contrasting Colors:

Darkness and Light

Night and Day

Ink and Paper

Mud and Silk

Ravens and Doves

Sin and Holiness.

There are things
Wrong and Right.
There are Lies and there are truths.
Whether you like it or not

Some things don’t give you
A Grayscale…
They can only be
Black or White.

One Way
Or NO Way.

People are Born
And People Die.

Sometimes People think
That they are born into a religion
As people can be born into a race.
They think they can be

Half-Jewish, Half-Christian
As you can Be Half Caucasion, Half African American.
I’m sorry to be blunt
But they don’t Mix if Each color must remain separate.

But people these people think
You can mix black and white
And get Two Perfectly Different Colors
In one pot―

That no gray
Would
Should
Could

Mix…
It’s all Black and White
To them.

But Being Messianic never Crossed their minds.
I guess they can’t see grayscale.

Writing: The elusive dream

When dreams were young
And dreams were fresh
I took my cupped hands
And dipped them

Into the rip-pl-ing pool
of Fancy

What did my mind know of
Pronouns. Adjectives; and the correct usage of the- Pluperfect?

What did my heart know of
heart-break
and lost faith



bruises, cuts, and Death?



I wanted to write.
I wanted to capture
That elusive Dream that flew
So hauntingly under the cool,
Moonlit sky,
Over the soft, waving oceans of grass,
Like a butterfly’s apparition after its
Last frolic in the summer’s sunshine
Had passed away long ago,
Like an echo’s fading resonance
Over years’ passage over solid, stationary, mountains.



Reality took its toll
Like an unexpected, excruciating
Punch—to the jaw.

They all had something to say:
“You have to think about real things.â€

THERE IS A WAR ON LUNA

Through the cool of night’s air
Whispers dreams of silver clouds:

Silver maidens
of crescent trees

The Unicorn and the Pegasus
Open up their wings,
The bugle cuts into the air,
Like a knife into the sea.

Dressed in silver

There is a war on Luna,
I fight in it tonight,
Please pray for me on Luna,
Please pray it turns out right.


The darkness swallows landscape.
The bugles goes off key.
There rides a hooded horseman,
He glides darkness o’er the sea.

He says he name is Grimmer,
He says he must now reap.
He says my soul now is his.
He says it’s his to keep.

I alight my Pegasus of freedom,
I alight my Pegasus of light,
I alight my Pegasus so swiftly,
I light my torch tonight.

There is a boy on Luna,
On its most far side tonight,
In his hand is burning,
The flame of freedom’s right.

At Twilight by John T. Mathis (A.k.a. Linksquest)



The twilight sky is emblazoned with stars.
The gentle winds falls cooly on the
cresting waves.

The Mermaids and Mermen
take breath from the coolness
and the calm.

The moon glows as tufts and wisps of clouds slowly float across
its face.

Faint music whispers across the horizon,
Sweet smells waft and kiss
the moving waters.

The reflection of the moon
Dances and glistens:
A shimmering light of night.

Boats pass by gently,
Their precious cargo
fast asleep,
Dreaming of far away places,
a smile on their lips.

This poem has a pleasantly fanciful feel to it--several of the images and descriptions you use are nice, although none of them seems to stand out as being better than the rest. The wording of the final stanza makes me wonder a bit about what (or who, rather) is the cargo of the boats you mentioned, but overall, it's a fairly enjoyable lyric.

This definitely has a lyric feel to it. Although I like it a lot, a agree that nothing stands out as being special. Even poems should have a beginning, middle, and end to some degree. But still, good job as usual. BTW, I am only being so critical because you are so good. I want you to improve even more.

The Castle on a Cloud by Linksquest

Cerulean skies arch above
The thick, lush wood.
Titan clouds, golden and shimmering
float majestically
As ships on voyage
Across the air-sea,
Stopping every now and then
To empty their deck’s of water

A towering pinnacle
Rises in the midst
Of those ethereal ships.
Vaulted arched,
Stained windows,
Golden gates.

People walk on prism
Streets, clear as crystal,
Gazing down at the men of
The world.

Exuberant colors
Beyond the eyes’ pallet
Wash the heavenly shores
With their light.

With all my heart,
I long to go their
To that castle on a cloud
Where a man can be a man

Without the cares of this world.

Dreams come from
The glowing place,
That floats from horizon
To golden harbor.

Listen… can you hear
The minstrels, and the
Lyres, and the trumpets
Wafting down from the tall tower?

I.

Once, there was a lad
who lived in a crystal
palace.
His name was Krael.


Faeries flew amongst
The heaven-reaching trees
A faint bluish, magical glow
Lightly illuminating the wood
By moonlight.
Soft beams of moonlight
Wafted through the open
Windows―
He was so content
With where he dwelled
That he did not dream
Of far away places.
He slept with his eyes open…
Reality was a dream enough.


Dragons
Harnessed with gold
And silver stirrups were
Always a part of midnight
Romps through the moonlit clouds.

Krael had friends
In the elves,
And the giants,
And the winged men:
The Airelaes.

The majestic silver chalice
Was always brimmed
With the waters
Of eternal youth―
All creatures of
Krael’s kingdom
Would never die.

Pearly music―
Crisp, resonant, and smooth
Would come from the mouths
Of trees,
Their mirthful song
Never changing.


II.

Krael grew―
older, and wiser…
But was in despair,
To find that he was the last of his kind―

The last Dreamer.

Krael heard from the
Faeries that there was
A fortress of Fact to the
South of his kingdom’s
Sandy shores.

Krael gathered
The creatures of his
Kingdom together and begged
Them to venture out
On an adventure,
To purge the Dark Fortress,

And perhaps Dreamers
Could once more be born.

The Fairies,
The Giants,
The Elves,
The Airelaes―
All of them agreed
To Venture with Krael,
And purge the darkness.

III.

Years passed―
Battles were waged
Unceasingly…
The silver chalice was no longer filled,
But was almost empty…
So many wounded,
And dying,
And dead.

At last,
On the last day of
Kiritrae- the 14th month,
Krael and his
Giant and Elven friends
Broke through
The Fortress of Fact
And knew they would come face to
Face with the lord
Of this dark tower.

Blades raised,
The rushed up
The spiraling stairs―
Up and Up,
Beyond the clouds,
Beyond the moon,
Beyond the sun,
And the stars…
Up…
Higher… until their was nothing
To be seen from
Out the small slits
For windows,
But sheer darkness,
And void of light.

It was here,
That they found a maiden―
Laid out on a bed of blue,
And silver.
Her golden locks reached
All the way to the door.

Her eyes were shut,
Peacefully,
Her lips slightly
Parted in such a sorrowful
And painful emotion,
That some of the elves’ eyes
Began to fill with tears.

Matches:
Little tools made
for a big purpose:

For lighting, heating,
Rejuvenating.

A match is struck;
Friction, sparks it to life,
Without friction,
The match would stay,
In it’s neat little box

Once a match is lit,
It can light other matches,
Because after time,
It will burn out.

Matches light one another,
And make a fire.

A fire must be tended,
And more logs added
To keep the fire burning,
The embers alive.

But if a match will be
By itself against the wind
It will go out,

But if a horde of matches,
Stands against the wind
The wind will blow the flame,
Leaping into the dry forest,
And start a forest fire.

Matches are we,
Lighting one another,
spreading the flame of truth,

There needs to be other flames
that will continue to burn.

Creating other flames around us

Love?
What is love?
Who is love?
Where is love?

Different sorts of love:
God loves man,

Husband loves wife,

Love’s haughty sister, Lust,
Hides love behind veils and
Tapestries, promising the real personage of Love,
But always presenting herself,
Instead of her sister: Love.

Dreams of love,

Love’s sadistic cousin, Hatred,

Lies

Lies are truths
That have been twisted
And contorted
Mashed and mixed
Stretched
And skewed
And painted
And dressed up
To be what a person wants to believe
Or wants to deceive
