Congrats. :)
The scientific method," Thomas Henry Huxley once wrote, "is nothing but the normal working of the human mind." That is to say, when the mind is working; that is to say further, when it is engaged in corrrecting its mistakes. Taking this point of view, we may conclude that science is not physics, biology, or chemistry—is not even a "subject"—but a moral imperative drawn from a larger narrative whose purpose is to give perspective, balance, and humility to learning.

Anti-intellectualism has been a constant thread winding its way through our political and cultural life, nurtured by the false notion that democracy means that my ignorance is just as good as your knowledge

First, my thanks to all who said things that boil down to "good job." Thanks to the admins for having me; bigger thanks to God for getting me here in the first place.

To Shatterheart:  ...but I'm a moderator now. That would be counterproductive, wouldn't it?

To shooraijin and oldphilosopher: It's good to have you guys with me.

Lastly, to answer a question: there are currently 6 moderators on the forums, as well as 4 administration members. Moderators have blue usernames, administration members red.

[quote="SouthernSun"]Yes, I was going to say. They've been around for so long]

I'm slightly inclined to point out that post count has very little to do with becoming a mod or not. It's about attitude, dedication to the site, and bribes to the staff ... I mean ... :forehead:

Seriously, much prayer and discussion goes on about new mods. The staff takes if very seriously, as we should. Anyone we make a mod automatically becomes a representation of CAA to everyone else. The three guys that we just made admins deserve it. They've proven several times over that they're willing to stick with CAA and help it grow. They'll make awesome additions to the team of staff, and I'm quite proud to have them with us.

I just didn't want someone to hit 1000 posts, then sit and excitedly watch for their name to turn blue. Because if someone did that, I'd feel pretty bad. :(

Congratulations Old Phil! :jump: You'll be an excellent mod.

[size=84][color=seagreen]YOU SEE

You see into the deepest part of me ---

beyond the fog I hide behind.

You cast your light upon the shadows

that stretch like cobwebs in my mind.

You ease the pain when I am hurting,

and morbid visions from my past

pierce into the realm of Reason

as though I danced on blades of glass.

You grant me strength when I have fallen

and, once again, I've lost my way.

You take my hand in Yours and lead me

into the promise of a brand new day.

You bring order to all my chaos,

yet set my well-laid plans awry.

You place me on a firm foundation ---

then give me wings so I can fly.

You sand away my roughened edges

and polish all the dullest parts

until I stand before Your presence...

a newly-sculpted work of art.

You see into the heart within me,

right through my motives and selfish will.

And yet, in spite of all You see

You say You love me even still.

I don't mind people calling me that. In fact, there's only one real way to spell it that bugs me. It's when people... Wait... That would be a mistake. Nevermind. Forget I brought it up. Heh...

Oh c'mon! Being a mod is great fun! I mean, you have to watch what you endorse and you can't lash people no matter how mad you are at them... but there's one little thing that makes it all worthwhile ...

For me being a mod really isn't that much of a duty. I was already peace-keeping before becoming a mod, I now just have power to solve some problems myself, instead of information the admin. Trust me, it's better than you might think. Plus, you get to work with such great people.

Oh, me? Heh...*slips money into Ashley's hand* And there you have it...;) LOL, jk, jk...

I guess I'm a mod because I've been around a while and devoted quite a bit of time to CAA. It was like, one day my sister logged into messenger and she said: "Hey, Ashley wants to talk to you" so I got on and Ashley said: "you wanna be a mod?" and I said: "...O.o" And that's how it happened! LOL
