"temp pages" offline for now

Postby Mithrandir » Thu May 19, 2005 9:19 pm

I'm experimenting with the temporary pages that say "Your search is in progress" or "Your post is being submitted."

I think the psycological benifits it provies may be outpaced by the amount of power it requires. We'll see.

Let me know if this has a negative impact on anyone.

Seems fine to me.

Actually, it feels a bit faster, from this user's perspective, not to see those pages. I like it better without them. (slight oddity, though - saving changes in the quick edit box doesn't refresh the page. May be related, so I mention it here. (update - it's working properly now. weird.))

Ah, that's refreshing. Makes this poor soul's dial-up browse the pages faster. :thumb:

Quick Edit testing...

In all honesty, I barely noticed.

No, actually, there's less of that. [I know, it doesn't quite work, but it came to mind and I was already posting...]

You beat me to it.

So, no one is having any negative impact by this?

Edit: I'm making this change with the "Quick Edit" function. Since you're reading it, it must still work. I don't know why it wouldn't for Kaligraphic...

I think quite the opposite (and I do notice it is slightly faster).

It refreshes for me, using IE 6 and Windows XP Professional.

I'm using a recent version of Opera - and it seems to be refreshing properly most of the time now.

OK. I'll just assume I did something that fixed the problem, and take the endorphine hit.

Why, we report to the admins - who may also be out of line, but there's nobody to take complaints about them.

I recommend full scale panic and mass lootings.

Actually, I recommend this thread return to the topic. It seems that people are very happy with this change; I hope it frees up resources that will be helpful elsewhere. So unless someone discovers a cataclysmic error or Mithrandir has something new to report, I think this thread may be done.
