hmm.. well, I have 13 of the "How to the Draw Manga"/"How to Draw Anime and Game Characters" volumes..

I, personally, liked the following:
How to Draw Manga: Male Characters
How to Draw Manga: Female Characters
How to Draw Manga: Bodies and Anatomy
How to Draw Manga: Couples

If you're looking at shonen...
How to Draw Manga: Illustrating Battles
How to Draw Anime and Game Characters: Mastering Battle and Action Moves, Vol. 4

The "How to Draw Anime and Game Characters" series has a lot more.. step-by-step guidance compared to the "How to Draw Manga." It's more for beginners, while the "How to Draw Manga" series is for people who have been drawing for a while and want to improve on their skills. ^o^/ Hope this helps~

I found This book (How to Draw Manga: Volume 1; Compiling Characters) to be very very useful. I borrowed it from my library several months ago, and it helped me alot!

The "How to draw anime and game characters" books are a very good series ^___^ I've read them all in the bookstore and bought a couple, and I've found them a lot better than any of the other How-to-draw-manga books I've ever bought. Book 2 is my favorite because it goes really in-depth with how to do different emotions and express them in the faces of different types of characters with different manga styles, and explains why things work and how to show the emotion in the way that they hold themselves and thier bodies. Book 3 is a great book to go with that because it shows how to draw every day poses like tying your shoe, drinking water, putting on a jacket, and a lot of other things that are really helpful to know. So if you're buying any books, I really recommend these two!

My biggest problem buying books is the fact that nudity scares me XD The only thing to worry about is two pages in the 3rd one that show how to draw someone in a bath tub, but I glued those pages together since they were facing each other so that solved the problem completely X3 And in the back of the Anime & Game character books they have a section where they critique art that has been sent in to them and tell how to make your pictures flow. I hope this helps, and I hope to see some great art from you in the future! ^___^
