My battle with lust is going well. :)

I just want to say that I've come a really long way with my battle against Hentai. I even think of it differently from what i thought of it before. I know this isn't yet a full victory against lust but, praying to God whenever i start to think about hentai or start watching it has really helped me out. It's shown me that even when you go against God He is still always there to help you out and that gives me strength.

I think it's important to recognise the progress you're making sometimes even if you haven't completely beaten something like lust. That is what this testimonies purpose is. Think of the progress you've made with Hentai. How do you think of it now compared to when you first started? I'm talking about hentai because my battle doesnt include real porn but this can apply to real porn as well.

Never dwell on your failures, but think on what progress you've made with a positive spirit. I'm sure everyone who has battled lust has come a long way since their battle first began. I know I have.I hope this message reaches anyone who needs this kind of support. We can beat lust together!

So true, His love never fails us. I'm glad you see this Kura.

Never dwell on your failures, but think on what progress you've made with a positive spirit.

And that positive Spirit is the Holy Spirit. With Him we can conquer anything (Rom. 8:37, I John 1:7-10).

I'm glad this is a continuing progress report and you see how God is continually involved in your progress. He has such tremendous love for you. :)

[size=84][color=seagreen]YOU SEE

You see into the deepest part of me ---

beyond the fog I hide behind.

You cast your light upon the shadows

that stretch like cobwebs in my mind.

You ease the pain when I am hurting,

and morbid visions from my past

pierce into the realm of Reason

as though I danced on blades of glass.

You grant me strength when I have fallen

and, once again, I've lost my way.

You take my hand in Yours and lead me

into the promise of a brand new day.

You bring order to all my chaos,

yet set my well-laid plans awry.

You place me on a firm foundation ---

then give me wings so I can fly.

You sand away my roughened edges

and polish all the dullest parts

until I stand before Your presence...

a newly-sculpted work of art.

You see into the heart within me,

right through my motives and selfish will.

And yet, in spite of all You see

You say You love me even still.

:) Thanks Kura. Well done for getting there, and thank God for his help.
What has helped me with lust is basically just stinking plainly about what im lusting about. Like a pair of boobs; I go "Zane, mate. Its just fatty tissue, cells, skin, you might aswell be lusting over a foot, mate get real. Its going to get old, rot, go saggy, get ugly and theres on reason you you should stuff up you're eternal relationship with God over something so shallow, superficial as a boob. You suck!!"
Thats roughly what I say to myself, and its true, why wreck our standing with God and feel all down about it, knowing that we screwed up purposelly. It doesn't always work but it helps when I'm lazy in my self-diseplin. Keep going strong Kura, with Gods help, anything is possible.

Jesus will always be there to seek out the one sheep that has strayed from the fold despite the 99 that are still there. It is a very reassuring thought.

That's great to hear Kura Ookami. Addictions of any kind are a hard thing to face. IT's great to see that God has had an positive affect on you and your battle against lust. I'll be praying for you and that one day, you will be able to kick the habit all together and show that affection towards your future marriage parten and be able to share that strong bond w/ Jesus. Good luck, I'll be praying for ya :thumb:

That's awesome to see you starting to win an uphill fight, and I feel inspired that you can be so open here with that. You've got a lot of courage and I admire you for it because I've been there too, and not only with visual lusts, so I'll pray for you, God Bless!

Dear Brother in Christ,

Keep fighting the good fight brother, and never EVER give up. Under ANY CIRCUMSTANCES! The war has been won on Calvery. Because of Christ, the battle is yours if you take the initiative. I'm so pleased that you're making progress. Be sure to remain on guard though. Sometimes when we experience a victory, we get overconfident and the enemy uses that to his advantage.

I would encourage you and anyone else who struggles with lust to SEEK help! I know it seems embarrassing, but it will only help you. Believe me, the best way to beat this is to gather around other Christian brothers and be honest and open. Of course, you should pray to God for a group of brothers to open up to. You don't want to open up to just anyone, so let the Lord guide you.

Please keep fighting brother! We are HAPPY with you, and God is pleased with your progress.

However, don't be surprised if you have to make sacrifices for awhile. Sometimes, it's been helpful for me to give up the internet for a week, or even anime. Not saying you have to give it up forever, but I would recommend being open. It's when you get to a point that you're willing to do anything to beat the addiction that you're really ready to have victory.

I will be sure to pray for you bro. If you want to talk about it more with me, I can help man. My struggles have been intense as well.

I am curious. Are you a man or a woman. As a man my experience, and that of most of the men that I know, denies most of what you said in your third paragraph. Lust has always been about objects. I have never lusted after a girl because she has a nice personality.

If I'm not lusting after the hentai girls then why do i masturbate over them?

If i am to agree with your definition of lust then im not lusting after them since essentially they are merely drawings on a page. It just seems too conveniant to me. I could say based on what you've said swoop2004 that im not lusting therefore it's okay to ontinue watching hentai and masturbating.. It just seems like something that's too easy. Something that Satan would love me to think.

Girls who read erotic stories could say the same thing. They dont lust after the characters they're reading about because they're not real despite their masturbating over those characters. It just seems like an easy exception to the rule that you must not lust. This does seem like a good thing to discuss though.

In the past I have not posted in this thread simply because I did not feel I had anything to say to its author that had not already been said. Now, however, we seem to have a new issue at hand, which (as per his last post) Kura Ookami said would be a good thing to discuss.

Initially, I think that your situation falls under the definition of lust quite explicitly, and I am glad that it is improving.

As for the definition itself, look also to the secondary definition of the term: "An overwhelming desire or craving." For that matter, to the first definition that you provided. These things do not in any way refer to a specific person, or even to any person other than the one with the desires (as is the case with hentai). Regardless, however, we are using not a dictionary definition of lust, but a biblical one.

In regard to the question of body parts, I think we are speaking past each other. Bodies are merely collections of body parts. People, on the other hand, are far more than just their bodies.

On a much lighter note, I feel obligated to do this. I apologize if anyone is offended or thinks that inanity is out of place in a serious discussion.

When I look at a girl with lust in my heart I care nothing for her personality. She is merely a compilation of various parts of the female anatomy to me at that moment. Lust is a very objectifying and degrading thing.

Question about lust.
WHen I hear the word lust, I think of sexual content. But by definition;

Lust:
1. Intense or unrestrained sexual craving.
2.
-- a. An overwhelming desire or craving: a lust for power.
-- b. Intense eagerness or enthusiasm: a lust for life.
3. Obsolete. Pleasure; relish.

*Thank you Dictionary.com :P

My question would be,can lust also be described as longing for the person in general, not in a sexual sense? Such as wanting to be with someone out of personality, morals and beliefs, or is lust strictly a sexual craving? Also, if you can lust for the person (not sexually) is that also a bad form of lust like sexual craving? Is there such a thing as emotional lust? Or perhaps it's on a different level... Does that make any sense?

Edit: Also, has anyone noticed that lust (physically or emotionally) can sometimes lead to depression? Can really wanting someone lead to depression? I think it can.

i think it depends on how you want them. i mean if you just want to love them with out wanting in return you won't get as depressed, but there is still that want of the other person to love you back....does that make any sense?

Thank you CDLviking for that clarification, i wasn't too sure what to think. I knew there was a difference but wasn't sure if it was really as bad as in the sexual sense.
Lust can be a tricky thing to deal with.
