Bible Lesson for week of 17-23

Okay so maybe this is a little late but oh well.

Okay, Every week I am going to post a passage from my Bible, then you guys respond back to either what it means or any comments about it.

Here is this week's Bible lesson from Malachi 2:10-16

Have we not all one Father? Did not one God create us? Why do we profane the covenant of out fathers by breaking faith with one another?
Judah has broken faith. A detestable thing has been commited in Isreal and in Jerusalem: Judah has desecrated the sanctuary the Lord loves by marrying the daughter of a foreghn god. As for the man who does this, whoever he may be, may the Lord cut him off from the tents of Jacob - even though he brings offerings to the Lord Almighty.
Another thing you do: You flood the Lord's alter with tears. You weep and wail because he no longer pays attention to your offerings or accepts them with pleasure from your hands. You ask, "Why?" It is because the Lord is acting as the witness between you and the wife of your youth, because you have broken faith with her, though she is your partner, the wife of your marraige covenant.
Has not the Lord made them one? In flesh and spirit they are his. And why one? Because he was seeking godly offspring. So guard yourself in your spirit, and do not break faith with the wife of your youth.
"I hate divorce," says the Lord God of Isreal, "and I hate a man's covering himself with violence as well as his garment," says the Lord Almighty.
So guard yourself in your spirit, and do not break faith.

That was this week's lesson. :)

I'm only going to respond to the first part of the lesson because it reminded me of something I talked with the Lord about the other night. As the passage points out, all we believers have one Father in Heaven, we are all one, unified under God.

I've been tempted to post a sports-related thread for some time now on CAA, because I am a huge sports fan, but something has stopped me. I finally talked to God about it the other night, and He reminded me of how intense I can become regarding the teams I follow, and how personally and seriously I tend to take losses and criticism of my teams. I realized that if I were to start talking sports on CAA, it could very likely impact my friendships with others in the community in a negative way. I found myself thinking, "Wouldn't it be nice if we all rooted for the same team?" At that moment the Spirit gave me a revelation. We do, and that team is more important than any sports team one might follow. It's God's team. That sounds cheesy to me when I say it, but it is the truth the Spirit sent me so I am anot ashamed to post it. We are all followers of the greatest victor the world has ever known. And that is why I plan to focus on our unity under God here at CAA, and not sports teams or rivalries. Our oneness under the Lord is much more important.
