You know what Whiteblaze, if they pull this off, Movie company's are going to try to live action all the most popular animes like crazy. Just think a Live action cg'd Gundam on a movie screen, that would be pretty sweet.

They do have a live action CGed Gundam, though it's low budget and I've heard that it's not very good. It's called G-Savior or something like that.

Maybe I should also clarify that I consider low budget meaning 20 million bucks or less.

They are planning a Transformers movie (old school Transfomers) though some may dispute me in calling it an anime. Then there's the supposedly high budget "Rifts" movie made by Jerry Bruckheimer (sp?) studios. Incase you may or may not know, Rifts is a popular pencil and paper RPG that has fairly heavy anime influences.

Indeed, what other ones would there be? That was a good story arc, besides Beast Wars.

What did you not like about Beast Wars? Personally I enjoyed it, of couse it might have been the computer animation. Wait the there is the awful final fantasy movie, and the Tristar godzilla movie. IS THAT ALL I CARE ABOUT ANYMORE THE COMPUTER ANIMATION. WHAT ABOUT SHREK? WHY IS IT JUST ME!!!!

..............okay...... uhhhh..... :eyebrow: ..........I better end this post.

I didn't say I didn't enjoy Beast Wars, I said besides Beast Wars, which means I enjoyed Transformers old school and Beast Wars equally, hence, "besides", or "side by side". Yes, Beast Wars does have a superior story, and I enjoy the CG compared to some other CGed cartoons. I do also hope that one day Hideo Kojima makes a live action or CGed Metal Gear Solid movie.

When you say "besides something", it means you separated it from a group as in saying that it was more worse than the others. Anyhow thats nice to know, cause it was one of my favorite shows as a kid. Beast Machines was okay though. I need to lay off the caffeine, no?

It depends on the context, yes. Beast Machines was nice, though the "organics thing" was the only aspect I didn't prefer.

I think this topic has reached "critical mass," it's more now of "what anime or video games you would like to see as a live action movie"

On topic, now. The DBZ live action movie is actually old news, they've had the rights for nearly a year. From what I've heard, we shouldn't expect anything until at least 2005.

Personally, I think it will be bad. The only question is how much. I'm going to be going to see it anyway, unless I hear really bad things about it.

What I'm hoping is that they get a real fight coreographer, and don't just try to emulate the show. That could turn out very bad. For that matter, they sure better have a lot of flashy special effects. I expect at least five million dollars of property damage.

We should hope that it doesn't bomb or no Trigun movie.

Oh, I doubt it will bomb. Doubt that very much indeed. There will be hundreds of junkies there to see it repeatedly. But that has almost nothing to do with its quality. A Trigun movie would be interesting...

I wonder what story arc will be in the movie. I would guess one of the first two.

Somebody has already got a live action Evangelion in the works too. Let's hope they're all good.

Live Action that are also Anime

Post:
DBZ
Evangelion
Lupin III
Akira (this one will likely die)
Fist of the Northstar
Cutey Honey (this is pretty disturbing... I DON'T want to see a cutey honey live action... It wasn't a good anime to begin with!)
Sailor Moon (TV show)
Tokimeki Memorial (TV show)
You're Under Arrest (TV)

Pre:
"Boogiepop and the Others"
Zeiram
Kikaider (TV show)

Those are all I know about... Some of them are out allready (all of the "pre" ones are, of course, since they came before the anime), and for Post, the ones that aren't out yet are:

Eva, Lupin, The American DBZ (though the Hong Kong one is out, and it's rediculously cheesy and very funny), akira, Cutey Honey... Cutey Honey is being made in Japan, but by an American Company...

Eva is the largest of these projects, and they may go all out on it... Here's hoping that in making it look cool they dont' make it weak in plot... But, then again, I don't want to see another "End of Evangelion" only live action...

Also, I hope the costumes look better than most live action adaptations do... I mean, you don't have to use plastic for everything... It looks stupid when everything is shiny... The bad costume makers is one major reason these shows and movies are looke down on...

Don't forget Meteor Garden. It is a Taiwanese live action of Hana Dori Yango. Also the Peach Princess Taiwanese live action.

Exactly. I have pretty low expectations of the live action, but I will see it anyways just to see if it's good or not. I'm surprised that they are actually doing anything with it. Considering how long talk has been made about making it but no apparent progress shown to the fans.

The information I've heard, while not too substantial, is that the movie will be the first of four, and that it will be based on the Frieza Saga. Who really knows, though?

Hiya! sorry for budding in but I heard somewhere else that the movie would be based on the Trunks Saga on to the Cell saga but then again that was a vote off of a magizine

I thought that was old news on these threads... I saw that page a couple months ago. I guess it wasn't discussed on here, though.

There have been three seperate threads on this movie...

If it was a complete rumor, it was certainly a pervasive one.
