Saw the First Episode of the second season of Human Instrumentality Project of Media as a Product and Currency within a Cruel and Godless Material Culture where only the Strong Survive and the Weak Die in the Epic and Holy War against the Evil Record Companies and Copyright Cartels. So Good.

Hiroyuki Imaishi, whom most of you probably know for Gurren Lagann (and probably not Dead Leaves or Panty and Stocking) is making a new anime set to premiere on Christmas called INFERNO COP

So it's going web series that streams every Tuesday starting next week?

This is going to be campy, over the top, and awesome and I am so hyped. Merry Christmas!

Not as good as an announcement of a second season of glorious Panty and Stocking & Gaterbelt, but it's all good in the hood baby. If the scenery in the PV is anything to go on, I will like the animation style.

Well, I see now why there was no animation released for Inferno Cop's trailer.

Of all the american animation Trigger could have been watching, they chose Adult Swim circa 2003 (It's like Ghost Rider crossed with McGee. I was hoping trigger would go for more of an 'Adventure Time' angle for their anime.)
Well, at least it's insane (I lol'd at the end).

Romantic comedy light novel. Childhood friend vs foreign interloper fighting for the love of the guy who wants nothing to do with this crap.

Also, the main character is a former sufferer of Chuu2, and his old diary is used to blackmail him. >:D

I think I'm going to watch this one now.

I'll continue watching it, I hope it will be like Panty and Stocking in that it starts out with generic-ish jokes but then gets actually pretty brilliant after a while.

Edit: Just checked and the clones all look a lot like Ishihara Shintaro (he of the updated Toyko Youth Ordinance law), so I guess this makes this a political satire rather than an emulation of Adult Swim...

At C83, SHAFT sold a DVD/CD combo called Magical Suite Prism Nana PRISM BOX, which is a bunch of character songs and PVs for the songs from Prism Nana. It's pretty neat and you can treat it as a sort of series of extended PV for whatever final project they're coming up with.

So watched Cat Woman, or Shinbo's version of it.

Not bad. Hanekawa is a special kind of messed up though. I now totally get why Senjougahara is terrified of her.

My goodness, and my fortress; my high tower, and my deliverer; my shield, and he in whom I trust; who subdueth my people under me.

Checked out some of the shorts:
Climb of Encouragement is pretty darn cute. There was one scene that was obvs CG, but it was short. The rest of it was well-animated, and I liked what they managed to cover.
Ai-Mai-Whatevs - ICKS. All the icks. This is not cute or funny at all.
Mangirl! - While I didn't think it was that funny (this isn't necessarily a bad thing, I just thought there weren't that many funny parts to it, most of it took a more SoL tone), it was pretty solid about the mechanics and pitfalls of starting up a manga magazine. Very nice.

Maoyuu Maou Yuusha, or Conspicuous CG the Series.

It grates the eyeballs a bit.

And I think it's been a mistake on the part of the production to hype the fact that this is the same team that did Spice & Wolf... it doesn't have that kind of dynamic at all and people going in expecting that would find it a bit bland.
Blessed be the LORD my strength which teacheth my hands to war, and my fingers to fight:
My goodness, and my fortress; my high tower, and my deliverer; my shield, and he in whom I trust; who subdueth my people under me.

Also I kept expecting her to call him Dark Flame Master.

Yes, I mean Spice and Wolf was about microeconomics and Maoyuu is macroeconomics.

More seriously (although the above is true), Maoyuu was mostly better than I expected. I think the only real hangup I have is that the tone of their first encounter seemed a lot less aggressive than in the manga and that took away from some of the authoritativeness that Demon Queen commanded as the econ prof. But yes, there is a huge difference in the relationship of the main characters between this and Spice and Wolf. Lawrence and Holo have a relationship in which both of them are more or less equals, since they both are able to exchange knowledge in spite of one of them being a goddess. Demon Queen and Hero's relationship is much more asymmetric, in that Demon Queen is very obviously the brains behind the operation and Hero executes her will.

Also watched Cuticle Detective Inaba, which is a lot weirder than I expected. I won't be watching it but you might want to check it out to see if you'd like it.

Concerning Cuticle Detective Inaba, I still don't know what to think, but I lost it when we found out who Don Valentino was. Completely lost it.
In other words, I'll probably watch another episode because I like Kei because he's normal and adorable as well as the police detective guy, because he's a cool doting father. Plus the incident with the fridge was kinda funny.
I'll echo was Blkmage said, though. It's a comedy (I think???), but it's a type of humor not everyone will find funny, I think.

Nope couldn't finish the whole episode. Not for me.

OreShura is incredibly light novely (as expected) but it was amusing how aggressively not interested in relationship drama the main character was, enough that I'll see how it plays out.

Minami-ke: Tadaima:

Yep.

This is the Minami-ke I remember from all those years ago. Hopefully this keeps up.

Postby blkmage » Mon Jan 07, 2013 5:33 pm

so I was bored
Senran Kagura: boobs
Bakumatsu Gijinden Roman: didn't last the episode
Da Capo III: zzzzzzzzzzz
The Unlimited: apparently some Zettai Karen Children prequel that got announced after I made the thread, actually kind of neat, I think I might watch this

EDIT FOR TUESDAY SHOWS
AMNESIA: I really tried to give it a fair shot but that setup is really transparently video gamey and the heroine not particularly interesting, we'll see how it goes
Love Live: uncanny valley CG, public education funding models, dancing in traffic
Hakkenden: might be a decent fantasy shoujo series? I personally didn't like it that much though

So I thought OreShura was better than I expected. The production in particular was much better than I expected, and it's pretty refreshing to have a harem lead with a backbone. I think I'll stick with this for at least a couple episodes.
