Snow White

Postby Scarecrow » Thu Nov 10, 2011 2:40 pm

So there are two Snow White films coming out next year...

And I think this just became one of my most anticipated films of next year after seeing the trailer.

http://trailers.apple.com/trailers/universal/snowwhiteandthehuntsman/

I hope it turns out to actually be good but I'm loving that trailer! I was actually looking more forward to the other Snow White film, Mirror, Mirror cause it's being directed by the director of The Fall and stuff and he's very visual so I was interested in his movie. But this seems to have the edge now... of course there's no trailer yet for the other but... really love the look of this one.

And now Mirror Mirror also has a trailer...

Obviously no one cares about these films but me apparently but anyway... I take back what I said about looking forward to Mirror Mirror more... I'm completely bummed with that trailer especially with how awesome the other one was. This looks dumb. I'll still see it but it looks terrible.

I saw the first trailer a while back. It looked pretty cool until they revealed Snow White's actress. I'll give it a chance though, since she hasn't been given very many good roles.

Mirror Mirror looks like it could be pretty funny. I'll give that a chance too. I'll probably white for both on DVD/Bluray though.

I actually think Snow White and the Huntsman looks a little better so far, but I'll probably go and see both anyway.

I definitly want to see both, but I agree that Snow White and the Hunstmen looks better. And I wish these movies weren't being released so close together, because now its going to be that "dueling movies" trope, and people will acuse one of ripping off the other and it could get really annoying ><

Both of these movies, sadly, don't look that great to me.

But we will see. Mirror, Mirror is Tarsem's first movie aimed at kids, so it might just have terrible marketing. (See: Tangled's and Hugo's trailers.)

If it was us, what did that make Me? After all, I'm one of Us. I must be. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things."

Lessee... SW&TH = pretty crow imagery + Charlize Theron + that guy who played Thor = me wants to see, Kristen Stewart or not. And she may not be that bad.

MM = Nathan Lane + Sean Bean!? Where!?! + looks hilarious + Tarsem's signature crazy artistic style = me wants to see too.

I'm excited for SW&TH, the concept is intriguing and it seems to have some depth to it. Mirror Mirror just looks like a badly written parody.

Fairytales are meant to be Dark And Serious. So SW&TH I believe will be the best.
Also.

Mirror, Mirror looks like a comedy that makes fun of FairyTales. That would be awesome. Also made by the same guy who made Attack of the Show.

Also: Two movies of the same topic, the same year.

Three actually. Disney has one called "Order of the Seven" which revolves around the seven dwarfs.

The Huntsman looks pretty cool.

Mirror Mirror looks awful. When I imagined a Snow White movie by Tarsem what I imagined was actually closer to The Huntsman trailer, not a cheeseball comedy starring Julia Roberts as Julia Roberts endlessly quipping about how she is not becoming an older Julia Roberts.

Oh, also, going back to the first film, if the Huntsman replaces "Prince Charming" as the love interest, I am cool with that. I always thought that what the Huntsman did in letting her go was far more heroic and romantic than anything the Prince did. Oh, good for you. You kissed a sleeping girl. Any stalker can do that.

Edit: Oh, scratch that. There is a Prince. Frick.

Mirror mirror looks okay, I like Tarsem art direction (the only good thing from the cell) but it really doesn't look like I need to see it.

Now SWATH yes I want to see it, I prefer the darker art direction for that story.
