Worst fad of all time

Talk about anything in here.

Postby Ante Bellum » Sat Aug 28, 2010 7:17 pm

My friend had a rattail and it didn't look too bad. Then again, she didn't have a very long one. I can imagine how bad the pigtails would look though. I don't try pulling my hair back unless I can tie it at the neck, and my hair is short and straight (And I mean straight. It doesn't stay when things are done to it, unfortunately my mom didn't quite give up when it came to trying to curl it.) so I don't even bother with hairstyles.
Jeans with holes in the knees don't bother me as much, but I've seen ones that were ripped all the way up the front of the legs, and I've seen ones ripped so that you can see their underwear. I'm sorry if I've already made it clear enough, but I don't want to see everyone's underwear! Especially at a public school, that somehow makes it even worse.

the other day here in Japan I saw a dude with a creeper 'stache and a wicked mullet. The only way it could have been more complete was if he was wearing upsettingly short cut-off jeans.

And speaking which, weren't upsettingly short cut-off jeans (or just shorts in general) on men one of the most disturbing fads ever? Like, on girls, it's gross too, but there's something about those things on hairy, bony, farmer-tanned legs that is just utterly revolting.

I blame Tom Selleck.

That's what I said, why buy the ripped ones (Which cost more) instead of buying the non ripped ones and doing it yourself, but also why bother cutting them, that's just doesn't make sense.

No. I don't mind shorts of a moderate length on guys. But when it's up past the mid-thigh, it gets super awkward. Like, the shorts that most guys wear nowadays are great. Keep on wearing them. But if your cut-offs are so short that we can see the insides of your pockets coming out of the legs, that is just wrong on a number of levels.

A guy in my senior project class had a saying about skinny jeans (when guys wear them, anyhow)

It was something close to It's not important now, but it'll be important later. He just didn't exactly say important.

Because they want ripped jeans?

I really don't see why this is so hard to understand. XD

Also I agree with everyone here. Short shorts should only be worn on girls, not guys. Well, cute girls, at least.

Sour war heads taste like stomach acid to me :thumbsdow

Also to comment on hair again, I sat behind a boy to day with a rattail. Where are scissors when you need them?

Here's another tacky trend I thought of: Dressing you dog. Trust me Sparky does NOT want to look like a pretty princess.

I've always thought dressing up your pets should count as a form of animal abuse. Not like putting ribbons or something on them, that's fine, but putting on a sweater or dress? No.

People who dress dogs are themselves their own level of weird and creepy.

Apologies if you dress your dog (or cat, for that matter), but you should probably stop. Your pet will thank you.

I agree Rose! there's a whole book at my library called "Why paint your cat". It shows poor little kitties forced to look ridulous becuase of their owners. Are cats normally clowns? No. And they don't want to be painted that way.

There was actually a guy who lived in a house right outside of my neighborhood and had a goat in his yard that he would paint seasonal colors...

That poor goat. actualy I put a spot of food coloring on some of our farm cats once, but that was becuase we were giving them medicine and didn't want to give it to one twice. In a few days he color wore off, and now i'm able to tell the cats apart.

That's... really bad, too. I really hope it isn't actually paint- that stuff's poinsonous!

In Wizard of Oz they covered a horse in different flavors of jello powder (it's when they enter the Emerald City- the horse that pulls the carriage is at first purple, then red, etc. and they call it a 'horse of a different color')

Well they don't pain the whole cow just part of the sides.

I'm pretty sure it's not very common ether, I think it's just one of those stories that floats around.

To the dressing dogs thing... we actually put a sweater on our dog one winter because she had really short fur and isn't allowed in the house and my parents didn't want her to freeze to death. No, dogs do not like being dressed up... she got rid of that thing as quickly as possible, and either her or the other dog tore the sweater to shreds.
Heat lamps on the doghouse worked much better...

I can understand dog sweaters to keep them warm. that's just a health and safety thing. It's stuff like this that never needs to happen.

I just thought of one... I hate when mom's pierce their baby's ears. This one customer at work was getting it done on a baby that couldn't have been more than 2 weeks old :( I was old enough to choose when I got mine done- and regret it all the time now. But at least I had the choice.

While I know a lot of people who have had their ears pierced as kids and don't regret it at all, there is (or at least should be) a limit at how young you can get them. There's so much risk of infection or rejection that getting it done before a year should NEVER be allowed- the baby's health is definitely at higher risk.

This has to do with fashion again, but I've seen jean shorts that were so short the pockets showed through under the "hem". Looks like someone took jeans and cut the legs off completely so that the pockets are visible.

Nothing wrong with that. So long as it's a cute girl wearing them. And not, y'know, David Cross, like in the picture Corrie posted.
