Let's play Oregon Trail!

Have a video game or or VG review? This is the place to to discuss it! We also accept discussions of board games and the like, but SHHH! Don't tell anyone, OK?

How do we know the thief didn't use one of those 8 bullets to kill the ox? You know, just to slow you down. Maybe make you lose your trail... O.O

It's a good thing you still have enough food. Indians only help you find 30 pounds worth. Gee, thanks a lot! >_>

I played this yesterday and placed myself as the leader, and a bunch of friends as passengers. My best friend died first (He's not going to let me live that one down.) after a broken leg, another friend broke three limbs, got snakebite, came down with one or two diseases, got lost for four days, THEN died.
Then everyone else died.

Alright, half way there. We're making good time. And hey, over half of us are still alive.

You have to learn to put these things in perspective, people.

Well forget you guys. And I hope both your wagon tongues break.

Well gee, I don't know Oregon Trail, I've only lost someone important to me at every single river crossing in the game to this point. Choosing between them might take me a Fort Bridger Fort Bridger Fort Bridger.

We're not there yet.

It's more beautiful than I ever imagined.

As you can tell, it's a real hip and happenin' place.

Maybe we should pick up some food.

You know, just in case Cognitive isn't edible.

I wonder how long these new food reserves will last? Hope you can hunt well with only 11 bullets left...

Looking at that not very detailed map, it seems as if you will have to cross another river before you reach Oregon. That does not sound promising.

Also, in Fort Bridger, that wagon in the picture looks very sad (no really, it's even crying).

And who is this Aunt Rebecca (she keeps showing up) and why did you bring her along? XP

Happy trials, er trails, for the rest of the way~

Just make sure you get out of the poor health zone and stay out as much as you can. Once you hit "very poor", folks start keeling over like flies. It's not fun.

Dum dum, the plot gets an even more of a twist.

Did anyone play the other version of this game?

Oregen Trail II is pretty cool--basically the same game with more of everything.

Wikipedia says they're up to 5 now. That's more than a little mind-blowing.

Opps, wasn't clear about that. I was wondering how good The Yukon Trail game was.

But yeah, Oregon Trail II was fun. A remake of this game, entitled "Oregon Trail, 5th Edition", adds various new features to the game. The plant gathering feature was carried over from editions 3 and 4. This feature involves identifying which plants are edible and which are poisonous. Updated graphics have been provided for river crossings. A cartoon has been added which plays at certain points in the game. The conversation pictures are no longer animate.

We have Oregon Trail 5.
Yukon Trail is fun, but isn't as in depth as Oregon Trail is. There are a few minigames.

Yukon Trail was fun enough when I was a kid, but I have doubts it would hold up substantially well now. The most memorable thing about it was some of the hilariously useless items you could buy at the beginning like "Gold sniffing" gofers. But, yeah, it wasn't as deep as the Oregon Trail or (probably) the Amazon Trail. YT was the only one that I don't believe received upgraded editions.

One thing I liked about the Yukon trail is that at the very end you got to stake a claim and see how much gold you earned. Otherwise I think they were pretty similar.

The problem is you're not taking hunting breaks. When your health is down, you're supposed to stop and hunt other wagons for supplies and medicines. Seriously, though, you're all gonna die on this trip.

Or, you could buy some bullets, hire some indians, and take over Fort Bridger.
The cake used to be a lie like you, but then it took a portal to the deception core.

The Oregon Trail is a sadist who loves to kill those who travel on him. Breaking some wheels or drowning a woman are some of his favorite pastimes.
