See that left 4 dead 2 game on the 2nd list. I think you accidently put it there, because that game needs to be on everyone's "I'm getting..." list.

Mercenaries hasn't been a very strong franchise. I can think of other games that would top that.

Like Bioshock or Mass Effect, for instance!

I don't know that I'd get any Valve games for the 360 (or any console, for that matter). The support and playerbase for their games is much better and larger on the PC.

Let me know when it dies inexplicably on you.

. . . I mean, congratulations!

Come on, man, even I wouldn't say that. Three red cheers for your new system! I mean... Good luck.

I am joking, of course. I wouldn't wish system failure on anyone... Well, anyone on here anyhow. Besides, it can get replaced for free for 3 years if it's 3rl. If it's something else, it can still get fixed free if it happens under warranty.

Congrats, the 360 is a great system. As for the 3 rings, IIRC those aren't supposed to be happening anywhere near as often. Thankfully Microsoft greatly extended the warranty for that error, so getting it fixed isn't that hard.. As for games, my personal favorites are Soul Caliber, Assassin's Creed, and Morrowind: Oblivion... ^_^

I'd recommend some games for you to get, but I'd rather know what kind of games you do and don't like before I try that.

I have to agree, but mostly about the second game. I've seen a lot of people say that Mercenaries 2 is glitchier and/or not as fun as Mercenaries 1, so I'd suggest getting the first one instead (if you can). Then again, I've only played a demo of the first game, so you probably shouldn't just take my word for it.

Yeah but the problem with getting them on the PC is you have to use Steam. -.- *is anti-DRM*

Besides, Valve never updating their games on consoles can sometimes be a positive thing (has heard many TF2 players on the PS3/360 express gratitude on the lack of the new weapons on those versions).

And yeah, I've heard bad things about Mercenaries 2. Best to skip it altogether, nobody seems to have a positive thing to say about it. I've also heard many SF fans say the 360 version of that game is inferior because of the controller, but if your computer isn't that hot and you don't have a PS3 you don't have much choice I guess.

But Steam has it's advantages. Everything you bought is stored onto your account, so it's not like if you lose your game disc you can't ever play again. Sure it's technically DRM, but it's in no way inhibiting like some other companies like say... Maxis with Spore. It's got a great community network, AND buying games off Steam means you're supporting the developers instead of lame companies like EA!

Unless you're a man of principles.

And as for the TF2 updates, what you hear is not always accurate. The far majority of the players enjoy the updates. It's the PS3 and 360 Owners who have a non-up-to-date version with many of the bugs still yet to be resolved. Many of the new updates have even been well-received by competitive leagues (like the Jarate). Seriously, for every thread on the steam forums about how "Sandman is OP" or "Pyro is OP" or "Spy got nerfed" you'll get about twenty times the amount of people going "lrn 2 play scout/pyro/spy". For what it's worth, Valve actually listens to players and tries to balance things out. A recent update changed the Sandman's disadvantages into another one (gave back double-jump but took away 30 health). They even listened to color-blind players saying how they're unable to see the yellow Jarate effects and added a color-blind option. I've never seen such dedication and effort put into a fanbase than Valve, especially the TF2 development team. You don't see many other developers listening to its fans and frequently responding to them.

*Spends a lot of time on the TF2 Steam Forums*

I WAS planning on getting me a 360 in January, but my friend has nonchalantly told me that she'll give me her PS3 that she doesn't really use for my birthday in Jan. Not sure if she was being serious, so I don't know...

Steam is DRM that actually works, though. What I mean is it's dependent on something no less simple that logging in to work. It's not like that securom crap...

DRM isn't all evil. It's just stuff like Securom that's annoying. /opinion.

I don't like that line of thinking, to me it's in line with stuff like, "Yeah, the government is illegally monitoring your phone conversations and personal emails, but if you're not doing anything wrong it's not a problem anyway!"
For what it's worth, Valve actually listens to players and tries to balance things out.

The biggest complaint I've heard is about how Valve used to be all about never taking away control from the player (evident in stuff like Bioshock) and then they introduced the stun stuff into TF2, which made at least a fair bit of people upset. From what I hear the Sandman and stuff is apparently not in the 360/PS3 versions? Meaning people are happier that they don't have to deal with it there.

Eh, that's fine. It's your opinion, and you are free to have it, I just disagree. It should not be dictated to me how to enjoy my purchase. Car manufacturers aren't allowed to take your car away if you put a part in it that they don't sell, or if you upgrade it to run faster. So I don't feel I should be required to authenticate a game I purchased online just to be able to play it.

I ALSO don't care for the fact that Steam forces you to update it constantly to play your games even in offline mode. I admit however this problem isn't unique to just steam, I get upset when I'm forced to do system updates to play PS3 and Wii games too. The difference there is that if I buy a PS3 game and it forces me to update, it does it once, then never again no matter how many times I start the game. Steam does it ALL THE TIME. That's annoying to me.

*shrug* This thread is getting way too off-topic though. I'll drop it now.

I agree. Stuns should be removed from the game. The reason why the console versions do not have the new updates is because there is far less support for it. Also the console TF2 players are the vast minority, so they also get far less of the good stuff, including the hundreds of new maps and gametypes being released. All competent Scout players use the original bat instead of the Sandman. Recent updates had it so the stun effect was less effective than before. It's not a major complaint so much anymore. Major comp leagues has pretty much banned the Sandman from being used.

Valve once said something about even if they put a 20 dollar bill inside a box and charged people 10 dollars for it people would find something to complain about. XD From my experience, both Valve and Blizzard are the only video game companies that are the most responsive and the most dedicated to their fanbase. And for that I give them my props (or money).

Yeah I can see that. I mean I know Steam is DRM and stuff, but I still like it. XD I think Steam as a distribution service has many good qualities compared to other ones, though. For me, the DRM doesn't really effect me a whole lot.
