You may get other things like money or other useful items.

(It happened in Jack and Daxter. After you fought a plant monster. If you walk/stomp on it. It gave you munnies \o.o/)

Or in Zelda games, you'd either get deku sticks or chu jellies.

I'd say, swipe the new arms quickly from the plant, because it looks like it might eat you.

Firstly, thanks to everyone who's enjoyed this thread so far, both those of you silent in the audience and those who actively engaged in keeping it alive with your suggestions. I originally started this as a way to relax and cool down after a somewhat tense week, and I'm glad to see others were able to find similar effects in their own lives.

However, I have to put this (and most of my forum projects) on hiatus. My computer has been being, well, itself. Even as I type this on my roommate's Mac my laptop is undergoing its third hard drive reformat in the space of three days. Until I can get it stable, don't expect to see me doing much in this thread (or elsewhere). At the latest, things should return to normal near the end of May, if only because its the end of the semester and my parent's computer isn't plagued by the same problems my laptop is.

That's about it. Thanks for understanding.

In all seriousness, shoot the sound effects director and replace him with a guy that will actually give you some sense of satisfaction by playing a cheerful chime when you gain an item in this game.
EDIT: (Oh crap, I just noticed AD already said that. Go with option two then. >_>)

You can also try talking to the plant before you begin any unnecessary violence. With such a big mouth, it should know something.
