Laptop on TV - Muah ha ha ha ha!!!

Postby Reon » Sat May 09, 2009 1:29 am

I've always been interested in second displays. At first it begun with using two computers to play two video game accounts at once or multitask on the internet. Now with Anime I like to watch full screen on one while keeping the other one for internet browsing - Multitasking ftw.

Only I decided to take it one step further, a friend's boss of mine who I'd consider a friend for how much we go to his house to play all his unlimited plethora of Xbox-360 games, he also hooked up a mac mini to his flat screen, which is something I had wanted to do but finally saw.

Well.... Tonight I drove to a 24 hr Long Drugs to pick up a S-video cable for about five dollars. My laptop has the plug on the side, my super old tv (a pry 5-10 yr old Panasonic also had a S-video port in the back). Can you say huzzah? Well I can because now I'm watching my anime thats on my laptop on my TV, without having to burn it to a TV or anything crazy like that. At the moment I'm typing this thread/post on my laptop while looking at my TV. Its a beautiful thing ^^ Its a shame I don't play MMO's anymore, because I would sure as heck love to be playing it on my TV right now lol. MUAHHAHAHAHAHHAHAH lol <3

If you choose to attempt this is quite easy, right clicking desktop after the S cable is plugged in and just extending your desktop onto the second display or using one of the other options. Then messing with the quality which you don't really have to do but I felt like I wanted to =) Anime looks perty. Yay whisper of the Heart. Whats great to is my laptop can watch HD/Blueray using VLC media player (a free media player you can google to download). Since my television isn't HD or Blueray... blah blah blah. Later Anime fans and tech nerds.

Actually I went the other way with this solution and bought a monitor with RCA inputs allowing for full computer resolution for watching things off the computer and the ability to run TV and game systems as well.
