CAA Weekly Newsletter

Postby Lochaber Axe » Mon Apr 05, 2004 8:13 pm

That whole CAA Associated Press thing from the Anime Couple Contest gave me an idea on a weekly newsletter for CAA. It would not be just a newsletter, but more of a newspaper really. Any important news relating to members, Mod and Admin decisions, rantings, et cetera would be interesting to read. I would offer what aid I can with writing and/or editing. It might not be feasible right now but I would like to at least have this around for when it is an appropriate time.

Well the privacy policy does say that the e-mail addresses could be used for updates other than the member confermation e-mail even though the admins don't use it for such... I think. *hasn't checked e-mail account in a few months*

Sounds cool.

Interesting... though it will take a lot of effort, work, and organization....

Hey! An "Arcade" section... like a "Sports" section would be nice. Right?

*thinks about possible headlines....*

*1st Week: Ashley challenged Shatterheart to a game of Tetris. Shatterheart pummeled Ashley.*

*2nd Week: Ashley challenged Shatterheart to a game of Tetris again. Ashley lost again.*

*3rd Week: Ashley challenged Shat-*

How about a story on Hitokiri's contests with a little more depth? The Anime Couple Contest turned out to be like a campaign in the end with "parties" forming and outspoken leaders. A reporter can summarize on interesting posts and events for other members who do not want to read every single post of such a long thread....

As for important decisions... we already have an Announcements section....

Regardless, this is an interesting idea. I shall watch this thread with some interest.

I'm not certainly what exactly we would put in it, but it sounds like a nice idea. Note that a nice idea is not necessarily a good idea, nor a feasible one. The adjective "nice" means very little, these days.

That's sort of what I was thinking. It would be very difficult to come up with a "newsletter's worth" of new information and stuff to read every week that hadn't already been rehashed or discussed on the boards, even though the idea would be quite cool. I think Gypsy was doing a newsletter at one time, but it was never intended to be extremely frequent.

Yes, we did have plans for a monthly newsletter that would preview anime and manga titles coming, and even give a bit of a review on them if possible. I agree with Shoo--it would be kinda hard to come up with a week's worth of news, but anything is possible. Especially now that we have a lot more forums, Gypsy's great idea of previewing anime titles, and Staci's exhaustive list of manga titles she constantly checks, and of course our quite amusing authors (Omega your little "sports" idea gave me a good chuckle) it could be quite the publication! I say go for it guys.

Sounds like fun, hehehehe. I would not mind doing the Manga Release List for a CAA Newsletter. I am sure it would be useful posted in several areas... Topics can become quickly lost in the flurry of postings, especially since the CAA is growing at rapid rates. *~_~*

Great ideas on the newsletter! :thumb:

That sounds like it would be fun. I'd like to help with it, if no one minds. I have plenty of free time to do this sort of thing. ^_^

I'm with Spirit Wolf on this. I'd love to help in any way possible. I know I've said it ages ago but I am most interested in helping CAA is any way I can. Even if that is currently just forming chain reactions of new members ^^; er- yea, a little offtopic. Sounds real interesting and something I think everyone would want to be a part of

Life is but an empty dream!
For the soul is dead that slumbers,

Dust thou art; to dust returnest,
Was not spoken of the soul."

Warning: The following has little to no basis in reality. Icarus is given to flights of fancy with little thought of feasibility

That sounds cool. Maybe you could have a monthly featured selection from the writing forum. Not an out and out review, or rating, but some thing to get a bit more exposure for the authors. I'd be more than willing to do it. Also, you could integrate the monthly art contest, and make a "Local" section. Naturally, the winner would still be posted on the front page of the site

The "Entertainment" section is almost a gimme. Links to Staci's list of manga, persuade Volt to duplicate his work for AnimeNewsToday, and maybe a couple of reviews. *Note: I have no idea how long it takes to write and approve a review, so I don't know if that being a monthly feature would fly*

And comics! Those written by members...

Icarus has fainted and it falls to me to clean up. Sorry. As noted earlier, Icarus takes no notice of how difficult his propositions are until afterwards. If there is any thing you want to use, feel free; if not, feel equally free to ignore him/me.

Swingin' idea, Loch.

God Bless.

I like the idea of giving writers more exposure.

I'd love to help out wherever I can, but I have limited time and talent...
