Look on the bright side. The series will be far better than when Lucas gets the flash of inspiration to do an Indiana Jones TV series starring Mutt.

The post-ROTJ continuity wasn't too bad until fairly recently. I mean, there was some crazy stuff like Palpatine clones, but for the most part, it was alright. The Thrawn Trilogy is what comes to most peoples' minds whenever there's talk of the expanded universe, and there's also stuff like the X-Wing series. NJO is pretty big and at the worst is pretty mediocre. Where I have a problem is the post-NJO stuff. That Legacy of the Force crap is incredibly forced and throws every piece of development that happened before it.

As a result, it seems like the last bastion of good Star Wars stuff lies with Bioware in KOTOR.

I know, I hate the fridge. It was so unrealistic! Why couldn't it have been more realistic like in Temple of Doom when the one guy ripped out the other guy's heart and showed it to him and it was still beating and he was still alive and then caught on fire when the guy was lowered into a pit of la...

Okay then why couldn't it have been realistic like in Last Crusade with the invisible bridge and the guy turning into a skeleton when he drank from the wrong cup and a gunshot wound got cured by pouring water on...

Okay so it should have been realistic like Raiders of the Lost Ark, when the ark opened and all the spirits flew out and if you looked at them you would die so Indy and the girl were safe but all the Nazis were killed by it and then the Ark closed its...

So okay none of Indiana Jones was ever realistic so I fail to see how the hate for the fridge scene was justified. Seriously what makes that worse than the invisible bridge in Last Crusade or the guy's heart bursting into flames when it's hundreds of feet from his body and still beating?

For the record, the fridge scene totally bothered me less than the aliens at the end. I mean. That was just stupid. xD I thought so, at least. Showing them kind of ruined it. As far as Indy 4 is concerned, I'm realizing it's really only good to me as nostalgia from the first three. It references itself far too many times to hold any lasting value in my eyes. That's only me, of course, and it's still a fun movie. Just definitely nowhere near as amazing as Raiders and Last Crusade still are. XD

The fridge thing is probably more along the lines its being within the realm of physical reality. You can complain all you want about the cup of Christ healing bullet wounds, but who are you to say what the Holy Grail can or can't do? It's a supernatural item. Meanwhile, a refrigerator is something more grounded in possibility, surviving a nuclear explosion in one less so.

Though for the record I loved the fridge scene. I just hated the CGI gophers that accompanied it.

The fridge thing is bad because, as noted by others above, it's more based in reality so it's more difficult for the audience to keep their suspension of disbelief.

Which is a problem for the movie as a whole. The previous Indiana Jones movies have never been grounded in reality, but did crazy things while staying within the limits of the genre.
