Cornerstone anyone?

Postby Benn » Mon Mar 09, 2009 4:01 pm

So most of the people I've met so far on here are from either the west or east coasts. But, I'd thought I'd ask anyway. Has anyone ever been to Cornerstone in Bushnell, IL?

It's a week long music festival in no-wheres-ville Illinois.

Here's some of the line-up for this upcoming year...

Underoath, Anberlin, Brian "Head" Welch, Relient K, Red, Los Lonely Boys, Emery, Family Force 5, Shiny Toy Guns, mewithoutYou, The Devil Wears Prada, Haste the Day, Living Sacrifice, Derek Webb, David Bazan, The Crucified, Stavesacre, Bradley Hathaway, Flatfoot 56, Glenn Kaiser Band, Gwen Stacy, Project 86, Rosie Thomas, The Chariot, Starflyer 59, The Lost Dogs, Stephen Christian, Brooke Waggoner.

I've been there once and plan to go again this year.

I went in '97 and '98.

Then emo came around.

I stopped going.

I went in '99. Do you really think it's full of emo kids now? I'd be hardpressed to believe that.

I paint the scene witha broad brush...I do confess.

However, the music I was into (ska, punk, hardcore) seems to be less, and something else is in its place....so I blame emo.

I wish I could go hehe. We have Alive here in Ohio and it's basically the same thing, only a bit smaller. A good deal of the bands mentioned will be there.
"Who is this?" they said to Me
'That the wind and waves obey
Come, let's hang Him on a tree
That His reign should pass away'
But here I am I say to you
Though you turn away, it is My will
To love you for forevermore
Peace be still, peace be still

I'm going next year.
I plan on going to soulfest this year because it's much cheaper.

What emo bands have played cornerstone?
And why is Los Lonely Boys playing there? That's absurd.

Gosh I don't know of any Christian emo bands. Isn't it kinda a contradiction? lol jk. Would Anberlin be considered emo?

Here's a list of current bands slotted... http://www.cornerstonefestival.com/BandBio.php?g=0

No.

Emery is to an extent.
Further Seems Forever is a good Christian emo band and Sunny Day Real Estate's vocalist became a Christian towards the end of their time as a band so their lyrics were inspired by such.

I've been there once or twice and it was pretty good. Whether I go or not depends on the old work schedule. I didn't know any CAA people went to this.

I've been to the Florida one with Kkun a couple of times, and it gradually went downhill. And yes, the festival tends to be full of emo kids.
