Mr. Smartypants wrote:I think it's harder to compare the two in these terms. Half-Life (The entire series) was about new game mechanics and story, a lot which the player has to dig through themselves without having it spoon-fed. (Which is why I tend to believe it's a much more intelligent game) A person who follows the story and characters will get a lot more out of it than someone who just sits down and plays it without much prior knowledge and experience.

But I digress. Anyway, I'll play some SMG at my friend's house later.
I agree, actually. I blame Nate for bringing it up. XD

Sounds good. Let us know how it goes!

Wow tried out ab it of it last night (since I actually had time to) and it's the most innovative and trippy game I've played in a while! The fact you go AROUND the worlds is amazing! Gotta play more, but just need more time^^ ...I blame WoW.

Nate wrote:ANYWAY. I beat Super Mario Galaxy tonight. The ending...what the crap? That was the lamest, most confusing ending ever. I never thought a Mario game would need an ending analysis. Geez.
Just out of curiosity, what did you find lame or confusing about the ending? I personally thought it was just fine. <.<
Bowser's "galaxy" self-destructed and imploded into a black hole that was sucking everything into it, but the lumas all joined together and went into it to stop it and they transformed the black hole into a new galaxy and a new mushroom kingdom, etc. That's how I interpreted it, anyway. The Lumas "sacrificed" themselves in order to save everyone and make a new galaxy.
I can't believe how fun this game is! Only thing that made me really mad, was losing maybe... 11 lives to the "Loopy Loo" (or whatever it was called) world, since I ALWAYS managed to fall off the track... Now I'm stuck on the first Mini Bowser world. Still, very fun with playing as bee Mario etc^^

Random question: Is it a pet peeve for anyone else, when other people (who have actually PLAYED and/or heard the game) call "Mar-ee-oh" "Merr-ee-oh"? I STILL hear alot of people call him that and think "He says his name on the beginning screen!!"

I have one thing to say.

I HATE YOU NINTENDO.

Luigi's Purple Coins. That's all I will say.

If you don't know what I'm talking about, just wait. Oh God, just wait. You will scream bloody murder at your TV.

Actually, I didn't find that stage to be too frustratingly difficult. It was a fun challenge, though. Are you still having issues with it, Nate? It's really not too hard as long as you have a good pattern of approach. Work your way around the board in a sort of circular way, and hop constantly, only landing on the squares that actually have coins (to make the path back when the star appears easier) and just keep moving. You can get the most coins by grabbing the bunches hovering over the edge and getting the strings of coins by long-jumping over the poison. Good luck.

*smiles wide*

A challenge you say? I guess Galaxy isn't a cake walk like some reviews have said it was.

*continues to wait impatiently for a copy*

I did actually finally beat it, but it took a while. Also, the Daredevil lava spire run is pretty rough.

Got all 120 stars now, have to go back and beat Bowser again to unlock the "special character."

I'm getting SMG, SBB, Zelda, and Paper Mario as soon as I get a wii, probably as a graduation gift (next Christmas)

I really really want to play through the UR MR game...

The majority of the game, especially the initial 60 stars required to beat Bowser, is, indeed, a cake walk. There's a few that are tricky, most especially some of the various prankster comets. The last 15 stars, the purple comet stars, can be quite frustrating and challenging, and speaking of challenging, there are three "trial galaxies" that are a bit rough.

Haha... I don't look at the title the same way since Kotaku pointed that out to me.
