Asia

Postby Straylight » Sun Jun 01, 2003 6:35 pm

Anyone been there?

For anyone else who's lived in/been to the the Far East - post pictures/descriptions... whatever. Sort of anime related I guess (people into Anime tend to also have an interest in Asian culture)

Hong Kong totally rocks...

A typical street in Central - in the night there is neon everywhere

im asian-american and my parents are taiwanese. so ive been to taiwan a few summers ago. it was fun actually. very different. it was very...asian. like in a good way. i had to speak chinese a lot and everything was cheap and good. nice place. very cool. and they have access to alot of anime ish. what i found funny was that the basketball hoops there were not the regulation 10 ft height..they were about 8.5 feet tall. hahah.

*sigh* ... the closest I've been to Asia was China Town in New York City.

This guy came into our church and did a sermon on the amazing things happening in Indonesia...he asked us to pray Indonisia 111: 1 church for every 1 city in 1 generation.

And I'd like to go to Asia someday, surprisingly NEVER left North America in my life.
I'm back to make a post or two every couple years...

I aim to emmigrate straight after Uni (student debt permitting). Possible canditates include Japan and Singapore. I'd love to live in Japan...

lol, it's one thing musing about how great Asian countries are, quite another having spent 3 years growing up in one.

i guess i am lucky :)

sounds like you were born from japan... or know japanese well.

i'm going back to korea in a few years, after i finish all my studies here in australia. getting a job in korea is like catching a shooting star with bare hands... so difficult...

You think it does, til you start getting into the inverse grammer structure, the complex "closer to you", "closer to me", "closer to neither of us" endings, and all kinds of technical things like that. Plus, you have to learn all those kanji too...
Although I suppose if you already knew a madarin-like language (i.e. things like korean, japanese, chinese, etc.) it wouldn't be as bad.

I wouldn't mind going to Japan someday. The only other overseas country I've ever been to has been England and that's not in Asia.

I don't think I would want to go to every Asian country though. Some of those countries aren't very stable especially if you are a Christian.

Wow! I love that place... it totally rocks -- we met a lot of Fillipinos in Hong Kong.. I've actually been there myself - we were doing some evangelism and stuff on Negros - going to villages and stuff.

japan ministry

Postby WhiteÃ…ngel » Thu Jun 05, 2003 8:36 am

well took me a while, but I think I will give my input here....

a long time ago I lived in houston and while managing at a movie rental place, had a coworker who was Doug Smiths girlfriend at the time. Doug was a voice actor for ADV then and now works for iron cats. he introduced me and I was hooked. I moved to Michigan where I wanted to learn Japanese. I found a great lady who needed an English teacher for her Japanese students (youth and adult). It was a perfect situation.... I learned japanese and got lots of culture info because of my relationship with the students while teaching them english. I can read, write and speak basic Japanese, but I am not skilled yet. said: ( watashi wa nihongo ga sukoshi hanasemasu, demo, matta jotsuja (romanji spelling?) arimasen.

I look forward to going to Japan one day also, but they are a very closed bunch when it comes to standing out... it will be a great challenge to bring Christainity there again. ( heard the story of the kuristians?) many people died. But... you know I love a Good fight.
