Also! :B I've been posting my progress on LJ, so if anyone wants to watch in their down time and has an LJ...well, uhm, dozou! :D http://outpost2006.livejournal.com/

check out the dare thread and go random =] And above all else keep writing. There's sections of my story so far that I'm sure are sheer boredom cause I just keep going on, but it puts the word count up.

I was going to ask, but figured someone else probably would. Cool! I'll add you to my writing buddies!

Yeah... going off on random tangents helps keep the word count up. But if you just keep writing, hopefully you'll be able to get to bits in your planned story (that's IF it's planned... or even if it's not, it still could happen too:) that you have a lot of fun in writing. And if you get stuck, just switch topic and maybe check out the dare thread like KawaiiNeko suggested. ^^ Hope you manage to have fun writing, anyway. ^_^

Hey, I read in the forum that apparently though the exceprt function doesn't work properly if you're viewing it in Flash, if you view it normally, it works. I have yet to test this myself... but I'll give it a try. ^^ Maybe my excerpt will actually work normally this time.

And GAH! I read some of the rules, and apparently a lot of short stories don't count as a novel. Mine isn't really that... but when I get sick of writing on my main story I write a little bit on one of my other stories, and count that as part of my Nanowrimo (which for some reason I keep wanting to type as 'wrimonano'... o_O) I'm not cheating, am I? Although the whole thing seems pretty lenient. ^^"

<Edit>D'oh! Sorry, I didn't realise I was double posting. ^_^"

The flash excerpts haven't been working for you guys? Weird, mine shows up just fine. Granted, it's a fairly short excerpt.

:D Hit 6925 words today, keeping right on schedule even though I have a paper to write. XD NaNo's really been motivating me to manage my time properly, though, and so far it's been working out nicely.

I'm at 5,052 words today, and I plan to keep working on it and submitting another update before midnight. Story seems to be moving along nicely and not to bizarrely (yet).

Edit: Three things-
First, I agree with Kodai about the time management thing. Its really cool to see how much you can do.
Second, I made it past 5,100 words before midnight.
Third, a question really, does anyone want me to post the story in a complete form somewhere so its readable?

I think it's okay to tweak the rules to suit your needs, Soph ^^; My story is actually going to be a collection of shorter 'stories' but they're all tied together in the same fantasy world and with the same characters.

Oh, thanks for those tips! ^^ I think I got it going a little better, but it still helped, so thanks. I'm still only at about 3,500, but I plan to storm write this afternoon and evening.

I'm sitting pretty at 8032. I'm going slow and steady, and I'm trying to write a little over 1666 every day so I stay a little ahead. That way if I miss a day I won't be too hard pressed to catch up. I know that if I get behind there will be no way I'll catch up, so I just can't fall behind. FF12 is my reward for making my word count daily =]

can you believe some people are DONE already... I hate them in a respecting sort of way.

I'll probably post my story somewhere when I'm done... at least after some tweaking

There are some people done already? Wow. O_O

Yeah; well, I think the important thing is that I'm writing; so for me, whether I count or don't count the short-story-ish sections I've got in mine, I don't think it matters. Getting to 50,000 would be cool, but for me what I'm finding is the best thing about Nanowrimo is that it's making me write. ^_^

Congrats, KNeko! You're doing really well. Keep it up; it's cool that you're sticking to schedule and managing your time so well -I'm impressed! Time management is a very, very useful skill to have. I wish I had more of that myself...

Sure, Mech; if you posted it I'd love to read it. ^_^ Though be warned, I find it hard to read long stories on the computer. ^_^" I'd probably end up reading short sections of it at a time.

I'm glad you're finding it easier going, Felix; I hope you're having lots of fun writing!

And I'll check and see if they've fixed the flash for those excerpts... maybe they have by now. But we'll see. ^_^

Update: Well, instead of missing large sections out on the flash profile, it now repeats a line from the former page at the top of a page, doesn't include elipses... and perhaps a few other issues like that. But that's better than before. ^_^

Heh, I don't have a livejournal; maybe I should get one someday. Though it'd probably end up like my usual diary -with sporadic entries and nonsensical writings within.
I'd like to post my story somewhere... which would probably be my only excuse for getting a LJ... but so far it's kinda been 'dragged out', and consists of dark-atmospheric memories which are pretty tedious. Hopefully I'll get up to some decent writing soon. I'm thinking of changing the writing style, even; just to make the whole thing better and easier to read. Rather than the whole serious, descriptive style I've been using (except for in the 'short story' parts where it's all very light-hearted), I think I'll try to change it to a very upbeat, more-funny style yet still retain more serious moments.
Gah. But then these thoughts come to mind:
Won't changing the style ruin the story?
...Does that matter? I can always rewrite it.
But I hate rewriting!
Bah. I just wanna have fun!

Ah, perfectionism. I think I'll bash that aspect of my personality down with a metaphorical hammer and just write with humourous descriptions and lots of life; that's the way I like doing things!

im doing like you, neko- just trying to write a little over the necessary daily amount...and i know what you mean about hating those "finishers" in a respecting kind of way...i'm in awe of them and jealous of them, and justifying myself with thoughts like, "yeah, but i bet they are single and don't have a baby and a house and a job and responsibilites at church and...." blah blah blah...! ;)

Soph, I can only manage my time cause I don't have much else to do XD;; if I had a hard semester school-wise I'd probably be WAY behind, but I never seem to have much homework... The only really limiting factor for me is work, but I can still write during study hall and such. Also, when I hit the spot past where I've planned what's going to happen.... I already know I'm going to hit some major writers block. That's where the dares thread will come in for me! I already know I'm going to base a scene around cooking an egg.

What IS the Dares thread? ToT I know you mentioned it before but I still don't know what it is.

Edit: I got to read your excerpt, Soph. I love it! ^_^ Really, it's quote awesome, I hope I get to read more, soon.
I'll try to read the other excerpts here, soon, guys.

Man, today I barely made it to the point I wanted to finish off at, wordcount wise. I'm sitting at 8504 right now, trying to maintain a steady pace of about 1700 a day. Things are going well, and the past two days I've been able to toy casually with one of my favorite subjects - Japanese mythology. ^_^

Between writing a paper and working on NaNo, I haven't had a chance to read everyone's excerpts, but I hope to soon! ^.^

EDIT: Ha ha, just took a look at the dares thread. XD Some pretty good ideas in there, though I think I'll be able to pull by for the next few days without having to dip into that resource. A good part of my NaNo book will focus on fleshing out the relationships between my main characters, so I can just ramble on, sort of...x3 yay.

I'm feeling pretty good because I just sat down and cranked out about 3,000 words ^_^ Granted, it's now 2:10 AM, but still, I'm very happy with what I got done tonight. A ton of good plot stuff just kind of landed on my head.

Edit: Apperantly I'm still a ways behind you guys, but never fear, I SHALL CATCH UP! *O*/

That's great to hear, man! ^_^

Yup -and congrats to you from me too, KNeko! It's great you've hit the 10k mark. I'm gonna try to do some extra writing today and catch up a little bit to where I should be. I've gotten a little bit behind... even though I started earlier! But I'm having fun. Might need to check out that dares thread...
Also, I posted a pic of one of my charas in the 'Original Character Contest' in the 'Art Contest' forum, if anyone wants to take a look. He hasn't actually appeared in the story yet, but should do sometime soon.

And thanks, Felix; I'm glad you enjoyed the excerpt. I'll change it from time to time when I think I've written somethign slightly entertaining.

Once again, all the best for your writing, Nanowrimo buddies!

WHOOOO~ GO KODAI! *dances and cheers* Doesn't it feel good? =]

And I thought the same thing Stichy... I've got a very active internal editor, but it's honestly not as hard as you'd think as long as you type the 1666 words per day. Alot of what I've written so far is pretty boring narative, but it fills up the pages!

Wow, Tee, you haven't called me Felix in ages XD Thanks! I did post another excerpt, but it has nothing to do with the first one. It's just a little thing explaining a bit about the world (which you already know about from my RP that was set in the same world) I'd be glad to send you the file though. Although I don't know how you can find the time to read it XD I'm completely pressed for time to write. I sat in my bed last night for about 2 hours writing in a notebook because I didn't have access to my computer and I didn't have any other chance to write that day. Then I typed up what I had writtin in the notebook this morning.
Oh and you must send me your story, too. I love it.
Question. Is Marcus in it? I don't think I saw him in the excerpt I read.
