Which animes sound better dubbed to you

Which anime titles do you think sound best dubbed?
Here are some of mine:
Full Metal Alchemist: I really think the sub voice doesn't work for Ed. It sounds too feminine.
Chobits: Crispin Freeman is so funny as Hideki!
any Ghibli dub: I love how star-studded Disney makes them!

Fruit's Basket: I liked Yuki and Akito's voices a lot better in the dub, they kind of annoyed me in the sub. Yet I found Tohru and Kyou annoying in the dub until they grew on me. I watched the series subbed first online and then bought it in English to watch with my friends. I've become very fond of the dub since then.

Wolf's Rain: I've only ever watched it in English, but I have seen a few episode clips from a subbed version and while I didn't dislike it I still thought the dub was rather excellent.

Detective Conan- Yes, there is severe, unnecessary localization. But the dub is really good anyway!

Le Chevalier de Eon- The people who did the dub of this went above and beyond their job description. It's absolutely superb! I would recommend watching with the subtitles on anyway, since there are words and phrases in French that aren't translated when listening to the dub, which is really the only drawback.

Hell Girl- Just a superb dub. I hate to say it, but it might just outdo the sub! Voices are appropriately creepy and fitting, acting is well-done...

.... and that's it. I like a lot of dubs as much as the subs, but I rarely like them more than. Though I've heard that the dub for Ghost Stories goes above and beyond the sub, and I'm dying to see if it's true~!

You know...I still do not have an opinion on a preference based on the voice. I still can't tell on many specific titles. I usually decide to watch subs or dubs depending on the type of anime I am watching.

Right now I only recall favoring Dub over subs in Ouran High School Host Club.

I have lived my life watching always subs or dubs, even when watching American shows I prefer close caption while I am listening. Probably it has to do with the fact that English is my second language.

Spirited Away. (Not sure if movies count in this thread or not.) I really thing Daveigh Chase did better as Chihiro than Rumi Hiiragi.

These days I can really think of only three anime that I like better dubbed than subbed.

Pokemon seasons 1-8 only: The dub is just so nostalgic for me. Veronica Taylor, Eric Stuart, Rachel Lillis, all of their performances are memorable and iconic. And it actually had really good dub music back in the early seasons. Wish they had never changed the voice cast...

Dragonball/DBZ/GT: Sorry, but Goku's japanese voice is like nails on a chalkboard to me. And he has the same voice even after he grows up! The english dub is just so much better.

Slayers: Pretty much the same as with Pokemon. Saw it dubbed first and love it so much. Lisa Ortiz, Eric Stuart, Crispin Freeman, and Veronica Taylor ARE their characters. Even like Cynthia Martinez' performance as Lina in the movies. Also just can;t imagine anyone else but Kelly Manison as Naga.

Fullmetal Alchemist - Seconded (or thirded, I'm not sure). I have watched a few episodes subbed, and it's by no means bad, but the English is my choice. I can't really get over how high pitched Winry and Riza's voices are, as well as Ed's voice reminding me of Naruto's Japanese voice for some strange reason.

Fruits Basket - The second anime and the first shojo I ever watched. It was on Netflix and they only have the dub, so that's what I watched. After, I went back and compared the sub, I still like the dub. Yuki sounds like a 12 year old in the sub.

Ouran High School Host Club - I watched the first episode subbed, then the rest dubbed. I find the jokes easier to understand in the dub (Kinda important for a comedy anime). I also like how they kept some of the honorifics (Tamaki-senpai, Mori-senpai, etc.).
Having watched FMA before this, it took a few episodes to get used to Tamaki's voice though...

Anything Ghibli - It's really surprising that they're mostly Disney dubs as well.

There's also a few other series where I don't care either way (Mushishi, Haibane Renmei, Princess Tutu, Death Note, The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya...)

Huh, that's interesting. As good of an actor as Vic is, I really prefer Romi Paku as Ed. She has a low enough voice for a woman that she sounds much more like a fifteen-year-old boy than a fifty-year-old man does XD

Hey, English is my first language, and I still prefer watching English-language things with English subtitles My family's just weird like that, I guess. We like knowing what people are saying even when they're mumbling. It gets to a point where it's almost stressful to watch a movie I've never seen before without subtitles.

Most of the time, I prefer sub to dub in my anime, because in my experience they're often better, if only by a little bit (sometimes, even when the acting is good enough that I can enjoy it, the voices are just a bit off). And there are a few where I like the sub and dub equally, like Wolf's Rain and Haibane Renmei (and most of FMA). And I'm watching Baccano! in the dub because I've heard it's better than the sub, but I haven't actually seen the sub yet so I can't say.

So the only dub I can legitimately say I prefer is D.Gray-man. Oh man, is Todd Haberkorn a better Allen than Sanae Kobayashi. And in general, dubs tend to work best when the setting is western or at least western-ish. Doesn't usually work so well in a Japanese setting, if only because Americans can't seem to pronounce Japanese names right (Granted, I've heard some very good pronunciations of Japanese names by Americans. You can really tell that they were working hard in Haibane Renmei and Death Note, for example.)

Wait...Vic is in his 50's?! Whoa...the years have been good to him. If you were to ask me, I would think he was in his late 30's at most.

In any case, my vote goes for "Beck: Mongolian Chop Squad". With apologies to the original Japanese cast, the English dub runs laps around the original. The songs sound better, the English dialogue sounds much more clear and concise, and oddly enough, the swearing sounds better in the English dub! Funimation really put in a lot of work on this dub.

Well, 49 to be exact. I find it very funny that he's old enough to be the father of most of his rabid fangirls XD But yeah, you're right - you'd never guess just looking at him how old he is.

That is both hilarious and scary at the same time. In any case, God bless him. I hope I look like that when I get to be his age...except, you know, black...and taller....and not a blonde

Back on topic, I have to say "Mushi-Shi" sounds great in either the original Japanese or the dubbed English, with the dub getting a few more points for the wide variety of vocal talent they used for each character. No two characters have the same voice, which is amazing when you consider that many of the characters are one-shot save for Ginko played by the ever versatile Travis Willingham and Dr. Adashino played by the very awesome Chuck Huber.

"Moribito: Guardian of the Spirit" has a great English dub track as well that I prefer over the Japanese. For me, Mona Marshall plays Chagum with the perfect blend of intelligence and naivety with a bit of regalness that would fit his character. Cindy Robinson is PERFECT as Balsa. She gives the spear-wielder a "weight" to her voice that matches the original Japanese perfectly, word for word.

Fruits Basket: Yuki doesn't need a feminine voice. He already has a baby face, which would get the point across that he could be presumed to be either gender if some random person saw him (and the point is, he's easily mistaken for a girl, which would be a possible mistake). I thought his face already did what Natsuki intended, so no need to give him a girly voice too.

Rurouni Kenshin: Eeeehh... Same reason as Yuki really. I don't care for his voice in the sub. Sounds too feminine.

For a lot of these, I haven't really given the sub a fair try, but I enjoy the dub because I don't have to read (and sometimes subtitles can be a little awkward...)

Yep, that's about all that comes to mind at the moment... I don't discriminate, I just like the one I'm used to or the one that's better written dialogue/less annoying voices XD.

I find that I prefer the one I watch first. Luck of the draw? Idk. I enjoyed the dub of Last Exile (original) but the sub of Clannad. Same with Trigun - I liked Vash's voice in the sub (I had watched that first), but the dub didn't seem too bad. I guess I felt some of the manliness of Vash carried through the VA's voice in the sub better.

Fullmetal Alchemist - Vic IS the Fullmetal Alchemist!

xxxHOLiC - This just seems more enjoyable in it's dub format. I feel Todd H. really puts a lot of passion into his character, and Colleen's sultry voice just fits Yuuko like a glove!

Spirited Away - Actually, the sub is REALLY GOOD, but the dub is also REALLY GOOD! It's almost tied, but dub slightly wins me over, due to the fact that the English VA (in my opinion) put more passion into her part as Chihiro!

Tsubasa TOKYO REVELATIONS & Spring Thunder - The English voice cast did BEYOND EXCELLENT with the dub of the OVAs! While their work with the anime series was beautiful, their work in the OVAs was just BREATH-TAKING! Especially Jason and Monica as Syaoran and Sakura! The sub was hard to beat, but they managed to do it!

I rather think Vic is Tamaki Saoh, as a result anyone who is anyone can only watch Ouron Highschool Host Club dubbed. Its simply a rule.
