New improved spoiler tags

The spoiler tags have been changed. Instead of popping up a Javascript alert, the spoiler appears inside a box, and you can reveal it by draggin your mouse over it.
Here's the syntax
<spoiler>insert spoiler here</spoiler>
or with description
<spoiler="description">insert spoiler text here</spoiler>
Replace < and > with [ and ]
The quotes look a bit nicer too

The box is better because it's a LOT easier to use, and doesn't fail when you put ' or " in the spoiler.

Hmmmm... too much work go back to buttons.
Though I do like how it affects quotes, alot nicer.

Dude, it's a lot simpler, trust me
This
Blah blah blah
is produced by this(remove spaces)
[ spoiler]Blah blah blah[ /spoiler]
Putting something in the first tag like before works too

Well, I almost find the quote box to be a bit distracting... but on the other hand, a box is a step above a button visually ;-) Still..

I don't really like it as much, although, there are some aspects of it that I do like. I guess that I'm a person for buttons or something close to that. Ctrl-a is the quick way of viewing a spoiler (and hilighting everything else too), for us lazy people. It takes longer to highlight than to click a button. But, there is less need for java script which I don't like having to begin with, and the ability now to have an apostraphe is good. So my final conclusion is the boxes may be better.

Actually, I like the new quote format now. It's easier for me to single out visually. But that's just me...LOL I think it's cool that quotation marks and apostrophes don't kill it anymore...that one caused me a lot of suffering when I didn't know what was wrong...LOL

could you implement the buttons with another tag... say <button="Button Text">text in button here</button> maybe? Or are they allready there?
Hey this is cool!
... except that I can't read it very well. Maybe I should change my hilite color back to the default...

Yeah, I'm having the same problem. Light grey on light blue is almost as illegible ... but it does save me from actually reading spoilers!

Hmm. FYI: Select all is APPLE-A for those of you on a mac.
For quote box: I like it. A little classier.
As for the current format, I hate to say this but I can actually read the text before I highlight it... That kinda defeats the purpose of the spoiler button...
*Sigh*

What browser are you using? The font colour and table background colour are both hard coded as the same. seems a bit weird to me

maybe OP has a desktop theme... That may change the color of the box... I don't know because my trial of the theme thing for XP ran out...
Oh, and I'm guessing the answer to my request is "no" then?

It can be implemented, it's just that it'll have the same problems as the old spoiler tags. I'll do it..

There is so. The 'u' is almost smack in the centre. It's one of my favourite words. You're not very neighbourly to our friends across the Pond.

Hmm... Strictly speaking, C9 isn't one of the accepted six, but I can't shake the feeling that it's still the monitor. Anyone else using a 15" Apple Studio Display (Family Name: M2454)?
My default pallete is millions, so I'm gonna say it's not the display settings. Hmm...

Well, I've changed my tune on this one. It's not the monitor. I've tried it on a bunch of Macs, and any OS X installation has this same issue. It's the highlighting color. I'll see if I can come up with a good fix.
Edit: Here's the work around for person's on a mac.
1. Open System Preferences (Little blue apple in the top left corner of the screen - just past the first line).
2. Click on "Appearance."
3. Cick the pop-up for "Highlight Color."
4. At this point, you can either select a color you want to use, or chose a different one. I recommend clicking (in the color wheel) about half way over to the left side. It's a darkish green that let's the text show up without ruining the highlighting in a text box.
HIH.
