Who here has read it and would like to discuss it?

I've never even heard of it. Sorry...

Mind telling me a little about it?

I did, years ago, but not all ten books of it or its entire dialogue form. I just read excerpts of it but the salient points regarding the ideal government were there.

Coincidentally, I'm supposed to submit a paper on Friday on the relationship of science and technology with society by paralleling it to the ideas from the Republic. Not particularly looking forward to it, though.

SwordSkill, you may also want to look at Lacitose's ideas of the ever shifting paradigm of science. That's really good stuff. But I digress...

The Republic? Well, I guess that depends on what you mean by "discuss." If you are talking about comparitive theology, then I would say no. Also, if you are looking for political discussionl, that kind of discussion is frowned upon here too. Read the FAQ for more information.

As you might guess from my username, I do dabble in philosophy, from time to time...
