My advice would be not to focus on styles so much as looking for a excellet
instructor dedicated to traing you hard first cppl times i tried
marital arts the instrutors promoted to quickly and didnt train that good
and it was only like 2 classes a week if that! then i went to another instructor,
and trust me GOD made him great at what he does
hes had black belts come frome other schools and get totaled in sparring by his white belts
i my self have beaten at least 1 black belt even though im just green belt
the belts and the style arent important its the indivuals and the instructor And of course its what God decides over all but those are my 2 cents
I worship TRINITY in unity and unity in TRINITY

unfourtanatly i keep falling
fourtanatly ill never fall beyond HIS REACH!

Martial arts...ninjas...cheerleaders...

NINJA CHEERLEADERS!

You can do both. I'd buy season tickets to that!

XD I just may have a secret weapon there...but actually, I got hurt cheerleading(they made me do like 50 hand stands and backhandsprings in one hour!!!! eviiiiillll!!!), so now I have to wait a while before doing martial arts to make sure I don't reinjure a muscle! How ironic!

i would definately say.... try a mixed style... it gives you a broader base in martial arts. Ive been doing martial arts for 19 years and i definately say that is the way to go because if you get locked into one style you most likely wont be ready when other styles come at you...

Example: when you do karate styles primarily, you do a "direct" or straight form of martial arts... you go through your target. While if you do a kung-fu style of martial arts... you do an "attact around" style. You side step then attack [snake style is a good example... or really any 5 animal style]. If you only know one or the other you will have either strength without angles... or redirection without strength. So do both so you can recognize and adapt to the oncoming of different attackers. Plus you will be a more well rounded martial artist.

PS dont let a dojo scam you out of your money with extremely costly dojos... many times i have seen them only teach at a mcdojo level. Money doesnt mean they teach more or better.

PSS I did cheerleading too.... i miss it :(

PSSS If you lived in phoenix or glendale i would teach you martial arts for free... our family has an official style also Heiwado "Way of Peace". It comes from a christian mindset also.

hey! That sounds like good advice.

I can't say I miss cheerleading. I did like the flips, though. It's a pretty tough sport contrary to popular belief.

Awwww....I wish I lived there. Your family's school sounds so cool!

back when i was in high school i done lau gar kung fu, then for a while did nothing, and i had always wanted to try kendo, then managed to find a dojo in my are so i started going to it, and now i've got all ma armour and stuff. If i had stayed at kung fu a little longer i would be at the grade where i could learn the bo staff.

some of my friends also reccomend aikedo, but i've never tried it.
