Steampunk anyone?

Sorry mods if this is the wrong thread.

Hey guys! I really want to get into the steampunk genre, but I have no idea where to start. Are there any titles that fit this genre you would reccomend to me? And yes, I've seen Treasure Planet and loved it (although I guess it's techinally Cyberpunk.....maybe). XD!
Content wise: Nothing beyone PG-13...basically. But anything that just has a bunch of raunchy sexual content I will avoid.

Also, feel free to talk about any of your favorite steampunk/cyberpunk/whatever type-punk titles here as well. I want to get a full view to see what I can try out.

Though much-maligned on these boards, Last Exile is a great example of steam-punk anime. The animation is beautiful and really draws you into that steampunk type of world.

Castle in the Sky is set in a steampunk setting, and it's a great movie.

I gave up on Turn A Gundam about a dozen episodes in, but it, too, is steampunk. I haven't seen Nadia, but it's a now-classic anime set in a steampunk universe.

If you're talking live action, I can think of two movies: Back to the Future III, which is my favorite in the series, I think would qualify - focus on steam engines? Maybe? The other I would recommend you stay away from - in fact, RUN if you see it. Will Smith's Wild Wild West was one of the worst theatrical experiences of my life...a HORRID film. But it's as steampunk as anything I've ever seen.

The Gearheart is an interesting example of a new phenomenon; it is a podiobook (i.e. a audio book released episodically in episodes for free on the internet without the benefit of a publisher). And its pretty good, though it mixes steampunk and fantasy, it is a little bit closer to what some might call 'dieselpunk', which is a subgenre. I've listed all of it (all 18 and so hours) and its pretty good. But its presentation is pretty good too.

What are you talking about? That was a great movie! But while my brother and I enjoy it, I think it would fall outside of what you'd consider appropriate viewing material, Steena.

Some steampunk I've seen:
Last Exile--LOVE IT!
Castle in the Sky
Captain Harlock
Galaxy Express 999
There was also a sci-fi comic in the 90's called Neil Gaiman's Heroman, about a steam-powered robot. I guess that counts.

Sorry about the late post.

I would recommend Girl Genius
It's a webcomic, steampunk, and updates Monday,Wednesday, and Friday.
It has some very good art and an interesting story, definitely a PG-13 comic though, lots of action, some somewhat dark themes, and also some suggestive humor.

One of my favorite comics, I highly recommend it.
Plus it's all free online so it won't cost anything to try out.
