My sister recently got into manga. She likese mink, i was wondering if there were anymore titles like that, that were fairly clean mild lanugae mild violence no nekkend peopl or anything no s#x. My sister likes singing, animals and doesnt like anything with very much romance. (such as kare kano, marmalade boy)

Hmm, there's an manga about jungle animals I think ... Uh, I'll find out the title for you (winces as she pictures several CAA members typing in "Jungle Animal Manga" into Google).

EDIT: :( I can't seem to find it - I'll have to look next time I go into Borders. I know I've seen one.

Hey,
If your sister likes Mink then you should refer her to Saint Tail. It's made by the same author and it's super cute!!!!! After that, there's Zodiac P.I. which is pretty clean, but it does have elements of the Zodiac in it and some violence (it's about a detective so of course there are going to be some crimes in there. Some of them get a little bloody.). Then there's Miracle Girls-- the language in those is a little heavier than the aforementioned titles, though. I think those would be good starters.

*smacks head* That's right! Saint Tail would be a good one. (I can't believe I of all people didn't think of that)

As soon as I read your message Knives, Saint Tail came to mind. Just as both Mangafanatic and Gypsy said. Other then that I'm not really sure, I don't ever want to suggest something I've never read before but from the little I know just maybe Tokyo Mew Mew? I'm not sure on content and all, just been told I'd probaly like it since I love animals a bit too much ^^;

My recommendations:

  1. Cardcaptor Sakura
  2. Megatokyo
  3. Azumanga Daioh
Cardcaptor Sakura will be good - some action, mild romance (it's about a 10-year-old), cute outfits, a cute "stuffed animal" that talks, et cetera.

Megatokyo may sound like an odd entry, especially due to its lack of animals. However, it is very clean, has loads of humor, and an interesting storyline. Two American boys fly to Japan, lose their money, and cannot get back. If interested, I suggest reading this one online to begin with - it began as a webcomic - then purchase it at Walden Books/Barnes & Noble.

Azumanga Daioh - Personally, I have not read this one. It is geared toward inviduals ages 7 and up, therefore it would be a good, clean pick. Azumanga Daioh is about a group of girls in school and their quirky adventures. The reviews on Amazon.com all say it is extremely humorous.

Saint Tail is safe. Yes, that definitely what she should go for.

I'm curious....if your sister doesn't like romance than why is she reading Cyber-Idol Mink? If I remember correctly, there's a HUGE love triangle later (common to nearly all the comics that come from Nakayoshi which would include Tokyo Mew Mew, Catcher in the Zodiac {I don't recall a love triangle in here}, Card Captor Sakura, and Sailor Moon) which is really cliche and got me bored after the 2nd chapter into it.

(I don't know the proper English titles for all these comics.......take for instance Catcher in the Zodiac.....someone mentioned Zodiac P.I. earlier and I believe that is the same comic.....)

His sister probably hasn't gotten to the love triangle yet because Tokyopop has only released one volume. The complication and romance are pretty minimal in that volume.
