GTO manga???

Postby Knives » Fri Nov 28, 2003 10:38 am

Ive heard that GTO manga is really good. But it also bears the rating of OT (16+) and that means there is probably some objectionable content in it. Can anyone tell me about this

I have read Volumes 1 through 3 of GTO. All I have to say is that it deserves its 16+. I will put this as delicately as possible.

Take for instance at the very beginning we find our hero Onisuka, sitting next to stairs looking up. The only reason he is doing this is so that he catches glimpes of panties as girls in short skirts climb down. This is only the beginning. Later we find out that the only reason he wants to become a teacher is to *ahem* you know with teenage school girls. The only nudity I saw was behind shots, but that doesn't stop the amount of bras, panties, and cleavage shots.

Many parts though made me laugh histerically, but many just made me go *uhg*. The only redeeming factor for Christians to read this that Onizuka (I think in Volume 2) finally understands what the real reason for becoming a teacher is: to help students. One last comment is that in the third volume he saves a suicidal kid twice though destroying the Vice Principal's car in the process.

So in closing if you can take gratuitous offensive humor, you might look into this. It is by no means from what I saw a Hentai, just a perverted comedy. There is a great distinction when it comes to GTO.

GTO is a great manga, no kidding.
but watch out for volume 10-13, if you don't want to see some sicko teacher peaking up, if you know what I mean.

Like Lochaber Axe said, pervs a plenty and swearing to go with it. GTO, the teacher, does show some redeeming qualities in the later ones, but he is still twisted. Definitely keep this one away from kids.

Strange... I remember replying to a GTO thread way back...

Anyway, I wouldn't recommend it to anyone below _17_. Read up to volume #15 and though I enjoy the realistic touch, it's definitely NOT for kids.

There are a whole bunch of things about the world of sex you *really* would do without. Language is _really_ explicit in some places--and I'm not talking about the language, but the detail in describing certain 'activites'.

It has great drama, but again, with the violence, language, and excessive suggestive themes I would keep away from it if you're underage or has trouble with lust.

I agree, this is not a manga for little kids. While there are some parts that made me laugh so hard I actually had to put the book down and stop reading, it is also incredibly perverted. The art style is also something that takes some getting used to. GTO shall always hold a special place in my heart, however, since I won the first DVD and magna in a contest. *grin*

well, why don't you head over to http://www.tokyopop.com/dbpage.php?propertycode=GTO&categorycode=BMG
and take a look at the manga preview yourself. its not going to show you too much, but you'll get a little taste of it. i've read up to 19 in the series. i have a friend who imported a few of the japanese versions.i only own 14 of the tokyopop versions. and what i've seen has been pretty intersting to say the least. they're not for every taste, but they are funny, well written, and enjoyable to read.

I love this manga it is well written and well drawn. I love the expressions the anime is great the manga is better. Onizuka is real, he doesn't put up a front to anyone I think we could all learn from that we are so often times some many different people. He is himself the whole time he may be a pervert but he's up front about it. He won't compramise any of his student for anything. I have the whole Anime series, the Live actions series and the manga so far as it's been realeased here and I love it. There are sick people out there and I think this shows in some instances just how sick some of them are, but they get theres in the end. THere are students who are like the ones in his class, and this shows that they really are just looking for someone who really cares. THe morals hidden in this manga, anime, LA are very good, and I will always enjoy it. It may not be for every age , but for those of you who do read it I'm sure you'll love it.

I would have to say that with the amount of undies, blood, and perverts I'd be very weary, I'd have to say based on how careful you are 18, if you are not all up in arms about the show of how sick some people are in there perversion which is compiled with some undies, maybe 16. However a general age limit 18 for christians. Make sure you are firm in what you can look at and what affects you. You people know what you should and shouldn't see based on what you know you can take. I can only suggest an age. The message however is great, it is the true trust in someone to be there for you as the real them.
