Drew this just now. Took about 15 minutes... and I couldn't get the feet right.

Mechs are fun... here's another pic (took about 25 minutes). I'm pleased with this one, although the legs look a bit sketchy... seem to be on a creative streak tonight, wonder what I'll draw next...

Those are good, djnoz!

What will djnoz draw next? the world may never know...
(You don't have to try and figure that out... I'm just being stupid...)

Here's something else. It took a lot longer this time.

Thanks for the comments guys, I can draw... sort of. Because I don't draw much though, I've never really refined the skill, and that's something I plan to do.

you have good perspective you just need to learn how to make flowing lines instaed of scratching the image in, try sketching it lightly and then going back over it useing smooth lines. but its very good

The mech is really good. I especially like your last picture, the one with the target lock, lol, reminds me of a good screenplay picture for a movie or game.

I've got a ruler but I don't use it much
Need some stencils to perfect those lines... time to trawl the shops in Chinatown I guess.

I've always wanted to start a webcomic, I'm imagining mine would be a sort of projection of my city (Manchester) in 10 years time, from a students perspective. That way I could chuck a load of my own experiences into the equation, as well as loads of real-life Christian stuff.

The first thing I'm gonna do is go out and take reference photos, which will include going up some of the various university towers, allowing me to get a manga sketch of the Manchester skyline... it would make good cover material

First of all though, I need to work on my art skillz. Thanks loads for the comments and advice!

Here's another experiment... laptop tracing.

1) How it's done

NOTE: If you try this, put a clear plastic sheet between screen and paper, you dont wanna damage things. Up the brightness and contrast for the best results. PRESS GENTLY! I used one of those retractable "DnD" pencils

2)Original photo

3)Rough trace

This is how I plan to trace my skyline reference photo.

Here is a scene from Manchester. I'm particularly pleased how this turned out.

you've got real good perspective I couldn't draw like that if my life was dependant on it. I love it.

Cool technique with the laptop! The city thing turned out very nicely ;-)

Your drawing style strikes me as very, very technical. It's like, you think less about the artistic detail, and more about the math (like perspective ;))

I agree, the earlier "people" posts were kinda bad, but your mechs and stuff are awesome, and I like that last pic quite a bit! In other words, I think your ability to draw people is improving ;-)

When I made graphics for the computer game I'm working on, it's 3D and all polygonal, so you have to think about the math/logic part in a BIG way. Since I'm using my own home-made graphics engine, I'm very limited as to what I can or can't do with the graphics (using textures for this particular project is very rare) and sometimes it feels like I can't get very creative with it. Hmm.. I guess that's why most graphics designers at Nintendo don't use home-made software! lol I'm thinking about doing an experiment with what I like to call "face mapping" -- try to develop a system where I can customize a polygonal face using sets of textures for the eyes and everything. Build-a-character style! That'll be a fun experiment... I'll get back to you if I ever make it (maybe you guys could submit art? :thumb: )
