Bad weather is always exciting! Hope you have enough bottled water, though...

I know a couple guys that are roughly 30 miles from where it will hit that are roping lawn chairs to their decks, taping up "Bring it on, Lizzy" banners, and buying lots of kites.
And cute avatar, richardh01!

I'm supposed to get hit, but not that bad. Hanover's right on the water, so I'm ready for the swells! I gotta agree. Bad weather is AWESOME!

I'm in Chesepeake, I think it's going to pass right over me.
Later: The sky is getting cloudy... o.0

My middle sister lives in Fayetteville, although I think she's out of the area. (Well, at least I hope so.)

It's getting windy and a bunch a geese just flew overhead sqawking loudly, they weren't even in the 'v' shape... that's kind of funny. ^_^

As long as it keeps moving the way it is, I think she shouldn't be too bad off if she battons down the hatches. She lives about an hour and a half north of me... I'm in Florence, South Carolina. We're supposed to be getting maybe a few rain bands and some gusty weather from it... so long as it keeps heading north. But believe me, we've kept our eyes on this one back when it was a Cat 5.
Will be praying for everyone up north. Please take care!

Welcome to life in the texas summer people. Tropical storms hit here quite often. And look, I came out okay, right?
But seriously, I'll be keeping you guys in my prayers. These storms can be absolutely devestating.

The worst I've gotten from hurricanes were tornados spawned from the outer edges. I think I've been in a hurricane once come to think of it.

I've been through one serious hurricane -- that was Hugo back in (I think) 1989. It was considered a Category 4... and it seriously tore up my state. Considering where I lived, I wasn't terribly near to the eye (though close enough), I could only imagine what it did further on south where the center hit. It's something a person never forgets.

Yeah, I'm in NC about an hour and half north of where it's coming in and we are going to eat it! It really shouldn't be bad though. I've been through quite a few hurricanes and ones larger than this. They're no big most of the time. You just have to watch the flooding in my area.

I'll pray for those of you who are in the hurricaine's path. I've never been in a hurricaine--it's just not something you think about in Central IL. However, we are in tornado alley here. I was just reading the paper this morning and evidently it was a record year for tornadoes in IL this year--we've had 123 of them in the state (so far) this year, and there is still a chance we could have more.

For a second I was like "Whaaa? Ethernet cable?"
We've been praying for you guys that are in her way.

One benefit of not living near the coast is that you don't have to worry about hurricanes (tornados are something else entirely however).

Yeah, I was out in OK as a child so I've had the best of them both! Hehe, I don't know though. I don't remember any tornadoes, I think we were lucky there.

Well, the hurricane has come and is almost gone and it was a kiddy ride! I mean, I'm happy nothing was harmed and there was very, very little damage but we didn't even have the power go out! Where's the fun in that?

Oh good! I saw some nasty flooding pictures from your round-about area and was a little concerned ...

Yeah, there's probably some flooding a little south-east of here but for some reason we didn't get a whole lot of the rain. It may flood near here in awhile because of the rain coming down the river in my city but I seriously doubt I will get flooded. Anyways, thanks for the concern!

It's supposed to be hitting the Hamilton-Niagara region sometime tomorrow if it tracks as projected. We'll see what happens, I remember two other storms that made it up here when was younger. They put down a hell of a lot of rain and had really different air than the usual storms.
There have also been a lot of comparisons to Hurricane Hazel which hit here back in '53. I grew up listening to some of the stories of what happened back then.

I wouldn't compare Isabel to Hazel by any means. It's big but not bad, although you may get lots of rain again.

Neither would I, at least not now. The comparisons were made earlier, when Isabel was a much stronger storm (it was enormously lucky that the storm weakened so dramatically). In any event, the conditions that made Hazel so devastating here can't be repeated due to changes in building codes and zoning laws, not to mention the meterological effects that served to increase Hazel's damage.
We'll probably get a fair bit of rain though (projected to be ~50 mm in the Hamilton-Niagara region). Although up here it was the flooding that did most of the damage in back '53.

We got rain and wind. That's about it. And no school missed
The funny thing is though, I had my Trigun marathon the week before, and I kept thinking, "Uh oh...is some giant ship gonna land on our city now? O_o"
But we were okay ^_^

*cough* man, I am incredibly glad but frightened when I see hurricanes, orkanos, tornados, whatever rampages anywhere in the world... I'm glad I live here.. where absolutely nothing happens! Some storms and small earthquakes once in a year... that stuff scares me.. :O

I looked it up, I think it is Swedish for "hurricaine", or a similar type of storm.
