sims 3

Postby animefreak » Mon Jun 21, 2010 5:20 pm

i have a couple questions about a game called sims 3. i know that in previous sims games there is some sort of sexual based themes and was wondering if sims 3 is any different and is it to explicit for a 14 year old? my mom was worried that they would show the sims giggling under the covers or something.......

This would probably be better off the 'Gamers' section.

But yes, that stuff is the same as in the previous Sims games- non-explicit but there. What it is, is that to have kids, both the Sims have to be activated to 'Try for Baby', and the Sims will disappear beneath the bedcovers, which will move. There are giggling sounds. But nothing explicit is shown other than some kissing and afterwards some obviously-nude yet entirely covered-by-sheets cuddling. After that, they get right back into the clothes, and any nudity on the part of the Sims is blurred out (you also get blurred-out nudity when they're taking showers or baths). It's rated T for Teen, and you're over 13. It's essentially what would be shown if you were watching a PG-13 movie that had sexual implications in it, perhaps even less graphic than that. Too explicit for you? Up to your parents. My parents allowed my 10-year-old brother to play it after they explained the whole 'birds and bees' thing, so he wasn't confused by why they needed to get into the bed in the first place, but that's up to the individual family.

Or you can have your Sims adopt, which is also allowed in the game.

You're welcome, Rushia.

In regards to the game, there are other reasons I wouldn't get Sims 3- there are irritating gameplay options that frustrate me, such as only being able to play one family at a time, not being able to switch between families, etc.

Since the sexual stuff is the same as in the other games, you'd be better off with Sims 2.

yeah... but nothing in an "extreme sexual" act, but more of a funny thing maxis puts in there just to make you laugh, I guess... but in the end, yeah, if I had kids, I'd let them play it... though... they'd have to be 13 years old to play it.... }>:^)
(maybe)
though... I first got into the sims 2 (I play the sims 3 of course); back when it first came out... so... I was about 10 years old at the time... just saying, but some kids are different; you'd have a better judgement there.
In the end, the only "sexual themes" are, kissing, flirting and "Woo hooing;" which is to replace the word "sex".
The only warning is, is not the game itself, but the mods that people can download. Some are inappropriate, and or porn-related modifications; there are also nude patches that uncensored the censored bar. So that's the only thing that your mom should be concerned about... but you wouldn't do any of those things... would you? :)

And now that you've mentioned that you play Sims 3, how do you feel it compares to Sims 2? Personally, I don't like that you can't play multiple families at a time, and that time marches on for all the families no matter which one is your primary (realistic, but I liked being able to micromanage my Sims!). And the fact that there's only one neighborhood also irritates me a bit.

YEah, but you can go to options and change that the time can only revolve around one family at a time; or the current family you are playing! :)
